I can't see where the holder is for the sidelight bulb, and I can't find it anywhere in the drivers manual on this either,
it's a 2006 8P

Cheers

is it easier to remove the whole headlamp? I have sausage fingers:anguished:

A little bit, not much easier though. I use my fingers like a set of needlenose pliers and pull the bulb holder by the wire, they're not held in tight

If it is the 5W5 sidelight, then you can remove the plastic cover and grip the bulb holder with long nose pliers, just a little wiggle and a gentle twist will loosen the bulbholder from the headlight case, then pull the bulbholder straight out.
If you can find some duck billed long nose pliers, even better. Replacing the bulbholder, you should be able to just push it back in with your fingers.
If you have any teenagers in the house, ask them to remove and replace it as they mostly have long skinny fingers.

Well 30 mins later & a set scraped knuckles, I've got them done, seriously though, what a stupid set up for getting the bulbs in & out, if it's going to be that tight they could have at least just made it a couple of screws to remove from the top of the headlight and the whole unit be removed to deal with them on the bench.

I just replaced my head light bulbs, started as normal trying to bend my hand into positions that are not normal for a human, after a while and lots of scraping of the knuckles i ended up dropping the bumper off and took the lights out...... time consuming job to replace bulbs which took all of 2 seconds

All the VAG car bulbs are a pain to change. You're right access could be made easier.
