8V S3 Tuning Thread

Is that including labour and VAT?

As far as I can remember, that was the kit price, inc VAT,but not labour.

Big turbo conversions aren't cheap, and need to be done properly, and theirs is reliable and does work.
the alternative is hybrid turbos, which are easier to fit and use,but may not reach the same power.

Speak also to Simon @ TTE....forum sponsors,to see what they have in the pipeline.

Im wanting to put a turbo back system on my s3 and have it remapped and the dsg box remapped also, but im confused with who to have do the map and weather it will need intake and intercooler which i really dont want to go that deep. So is ther anyway of just having a turbo back system and remapped without having to go for an intake and intercooler?

Shameless plug, I've finally got around to taking all the bits and bobs off my 8VS3 and added them to the for sale section of the forum!

MTM M-Cantronic, MTM Bimotos, Forge short shifter Audi exclusive S3 R8 style gear shifter

I like some vids off that ! wanted the Armytrix as well but it wasn't available when i bought my S3
Hey Rogier,

I did not want to post videos because my car is going to get a professional video from armytrix since it was the first one sold I think in the world. They are setting up a montage next to my house in madrid in a nice mountain twisty road. To give you a quick update I just installed the revo intake and installed stage 2. Mind blowing to say the least.
The exhaust sound sounds better to me too and the intake is incredibly engaging and changes the character of the car on its own way. The sound from the exhaust is extremely different from anything you have heard on these new MQBs only similar to IPE's TBE. Sadly I just learnt that I have to leave the country for work so I will be selling these parts in a while cause its kind of hard to sell a tuned car here. It breaks my heart but hey atleast im gonna make someone really happy cause it's not even funny how new these components are. I say it here now for those who may be interested to watch out for these components as its going to be a steal. To conclude my update I totally recomend the revo intake and the armytrix exhaust if you want to have moderate stealthy ride under 3000rpm and the sensation of being Sebastien Loeb the rest of the rev range. No jokes guys this thing is just too fun to be an Audi. The catless setup, the state of the art catback and the intake make this car more thriling than my old b7 rs4. Now i have the blend of luxury and excitement that I had been searching for. For those of you that cant give away some of that utterly pedestrian OEM mood, these cars suffer, look elsewhere.

By the way I mean the first Sedan to install the full TBE which is the only one viable for an official video. I forgot to mention the actual craftman quality put on the exhaust. I dont like to talk down on other brands cause I no how some may get offended and with rightfulness becuase It is hard earn money and illusion set on something so wont mention specific brands but I saw many exhaust were I installed mine. Hell the quality is clearly superior other main brands. The points that are welded and specifically the back silencer/muffler looks absolutely PERFECT. I know I dint precisely discover America cause the price is also considerably higher than it's competitors but I had a 911 akra next to it and the only perceived quality difference is that sick matte finish. The tips looked nicer on the armytrix actually as I have the black tips installed and they look like something that came out of an apple package. When I sell the components I will ask for 2000 pounds sterling or 2850 euros for the full exhaust and 245 pounds sterling or 350 euros for the Revo intake. The exhaust has 1500 km on it and the intake was installed yesterday. Dont think this opportunity happens often with such new components so take note. Oh by the way I treat my car as a total freak enthusiast so u can imagine that I would sleep outdoors before the car would. Consider everything NEW.

Is anyone else confused as to why APR are looking to release a Stage 3 upgrade and yet there is no news from them on when their cast downpipe is coming out?

if you want to get the most out of the remap and TBE then I would say you should do the intake but you don't have to, and you don't need to do the intercooler either....but its your choice on what you want to get out of the mods at the end of the day

Well at this stage APR beta in Aust showing loss going stage 2, even stage 1 with CEL elminator shows los when DP added. Maybe that's why APR not overly in rush with stage 2, if they can't even get any gains from it.

yes mate....does seem like Stage 1 is the best place to stay right now with TCU modified...although I'm going to wait and see what happens

So im now thinking about going with just a stage 1 revo but as my car is likely to be going to audi for its services will they find out about the map and then make a note of it and then not warrant any waranty work that may occur in the future?

but the answer is Yes.
well if this is the case just go straight to stage 2 if money isn´t a barrier. Had revo stage 1 for 20000 kms and loved it but just installed stage 2 and would rather sell the car than going back. Its just mor fun machine and that pull yo get from the 3 inch exhaust is just too good. By the way if anyone has a manual like mine and thinks that gear changes feel bland and slow cause of a bad transmision, just install a inch exhaust and feel how it was all down to a restrictive downpipe

yea breaks my heart but i'm going to be leaving the country soon so inevitably a will have to sell of the parts. Hey atleast I got to hear how these engines sound in their raw state and loved it. Going for armytrix on my next car for sure unless they take long to develop cause apparently it was pretty amazing that this brand chose this car to build an exhaust. Just look at their site and they usually build for higher end cars. I Have to say that this platform has given the best results out of tuning out of all the cars I have tuned including STIs. I really encourage anyone to build upon their 8Vs cause the results are sick. My next car no matter what is going to have the 2.5tfsi engine. This is the net engine I want to stage 2. Will share with everyone.

those brakes look sick by the way. Stopping power is nearly never enough. Just let as know how the feel is for a daily driver, i was looking for brakes at some point so i'm keen to hear some evaluations

WOW!!!!!! just noticed on your profile 410pk and 550nm. Cant wait to dino mine. If these numbers are relatively real we pretty much had the luck of our lives buying these new 8Vs. **** I dont see people too impressed on this site by the numbers. Did i miss something? are these numbers totally normal for a 4 banger? cause sure I dint have this much increase previously from any other car:greyrs4::hubbahubba:

People take these numbers with a pinch of salt because they can vary based on the dyno that has been used. Dyno configuration can cause huge variation in results even on the same machine over a period of time. Real world performance is much more interesting to me, I had a stripped out race Clio a few years ago that ran over 240bhp, this car was one of the best handling vehicles I have ever had the joy of ragging round a track. It was much more engaging to drive and made several quicker laps than a friends R32 Golf, which although similar on the power front, should have been able to at least keep up, but it failed miserably!

The R32 had bigger numbers on the dyno than my Clio and all the rest but if it can't comfortably put its power down well, its not going to out-perform anything!

However a four cylinder engine making numbers like that shouldn't be too much of a shock..there are Honda engines that have managed close to 1000hp on 4 cylinders..

the numbers are real. the change to the vwr600 intake over the apr gave me 17 hp and 40 nm torque more.
the dyno they use do not give higher numbers than usual. TTE wasn't impressed the first time they tuned theTTE450.
they are all about reliability not numbers. My stock turbo does 1.5 peak bar.

This is interesting Rogier. I've recently installed MTM Cantronic and then a VWR R600. The increase you've quoted is pretty impressive! Looking forward to dynoing mine.

Let me know what your results are !

Of course i got a Wagner Competition intercooler and tuning done by the master of tuning VAG :) so don't be dissapointed if you don 't reach 380 or so

I am also waiting for the stage 3 system from APR. I want to know if they change the engine internals or I they leave it stock... On Facebook they say that Stage 3 will have 5xx hp... :)

Damm that would be worth considering!
The TTE 450 kit does appox. 460/465 hp with 1.75 peak bar
at 3000 rpm it already gives 500 nm torque

Yes! I think they will Release it before Christmas. With over 500hp the s3 will perform in the straight line like a Porsche Turbo s...

what you think cost will be like for the uk ££££?

Some month ago I found a review of the Apr Stage 3 beta for the GTI. Someone wrote there that it will be cheaper than the Stage 3 for the Golf 6 R because for example you dont need a manifold. I hope you understand what I am writing. I am from germany. I think it will cost 5000€

I think changing engine internals is essential if the engines torque gets close or over 600Nm. @S3Alex is the most knowledgeable in here I think regarding this.

its more gearbox issues people will start having if it goes near 600nm their is a boy called David running a TTE600R that has 570bhp in his Golf MK 7R on stock internals

That's true, but as I've said before, there is no point in being the first person to find the limits of the stock internals, and it's torque that kills rods, not bhp.
If I remember,he's running less torque than mine.

Most of us though would build once, and build properly.

600Nm is "only" 440lbs,and the S3 manual box should cope with that providing you don't go in for too many drag launches.
Mine is coping with 540lbs right now and hasn't broken yet,but the bearings etc have been uprated, and if I'm right thats around 740Nm.

The DSG is a different matter, and you may find yourself needing uprated clutch packs around that sort of level, but the DSG-Dokter is the place to go for both DSG programming, and uprated clutches.

what have you got done to your car @S3 ALEX ?

It's a long story.... Lol

It's not an 8V but it does have 8 injectors,a Syvecs ECU and a GTX3582.

And a few other bits....

It's the car's blog lol.

It all goes in there ..the good bits, the mistakes, and all the people who've helped.

And more from BCS in the new year.

But if the Stage 3 from Apr is to expensive. I will go for the TTE450. For me at the moment it is unclear if the engine can stand the power with the stock internals. We have to wait if more testing is done.

Remember it's dependent on torque.

By using a smaller turbo you get better response and less torque.
Mine trades a bit of response(boost comes in strong from around 3700-4000rpm)for a huge amount of torque and top end grunt.
