I'm thinking of remapping my Audi s3 8p 2010 s tronic. So many companies out there and prices just confused on who to go for. I'm based in east London can anyone recommend the best place for my car in London? I'm also wondering if I need a dsg remap and if it's necessary after I do a stage 1 remap? Will it stress the gearbox if I don't etc? And does a remap actually make the fuel consumption on this car better or is that only for the Diesel engines?

Thanks

Depending on which side of London there's AMDTUNING in Lakeside and Storm Developments in Aldermaston.

Both have done superb work for me and I would recommend them to anyone.

Check out my build thread to see what they can do.

If you were worried about fuel consumption you shouldn't have bought an S3 :) . Remaps can sometimes improve economy marginally. Anybody that says you will get 20% more mpg is having a laugh though. The first time you give the car a bit of a blast you will undo all your hard work.

Hah! I knew what I was buying with the s3 mpg wise I was just curious as to if it would make my car even better with the remap.

AMD tuning seems to be the most nearest reputable tuning garage. £400 for the remap but then £300 for dsg remap! Not sure if I should just gather all that together or get the map first the dsg map a little later.

I would probably go with the engine map first then the DSG if you need it.

AMD do their own maps as well as APR.
Both will give good results.

I certainly noticed better MPG with the Stg1 and 2 maps driving around normally but as you say hoofing it undoes all of that.

I now enjoy a healthy 22mpg which isn't too shabby for 550bhp.
My Escort never did better than 12mpg LOL

Oh ok. is the APR map more aggressive mid range or they pretty similar?

Just mapped my A3 TSFI Quattro with bluefin last night - its a conservative map but allows you to map it yourself and remove it if needed.

Transformed the car, loads more mid range and improved throttle response - really happy with it :)

Decided to go with AMD in Lakeside, Essex. Just dropped the car to them. Let's hope this comes out well!!

I think you'll be pleased.

I certainly was.....

Just picked the car up. Definitely screams take me on a long straight road and give it some!
They picked up a fault code p1531 (camshaft timing adjustment) they deleted the code they said and waited to see if it comes back but it didn't.
And apparently my air box is loose and recommend to get it fixed as It may hit fuel pump.
Anybody know how bad of a problem they are is it an urgent fix and is it costly? Not really good with the knowledge of these things.

Figures are -
Pre remap -
269 bhp @ 5879 rpm
289lb ft @ 2903 rpm

Post remap -
305 bhp @ 6263 rpm
298lb ft @ 4033 rpm

Was expecting torque to be a bit more but yeh! Cheers for the help and advice guys, loving the s3 more now!

Torque is bit lower than expected...from 289 I'd though you would have at least 330lb ft...maybe they didn't want to release full power with that fault?

You'll soon get used to the extra oomph. In a couple of weeks and you'll be saying it's not as powerful as it was two weeks ago :suspicion:

For a Stg1 remap its in the ballpark.
Give the ECU a week to adapt and it may improve a little in terms of torque.

This is definitely true.

I thought mine improved a lot at each step and the last jump seemed pretty fast until I got used to it.

Now it's kinda normal....you always want a bit more.

It's relentless.

I was going to leave my car completely stock when I bought it.

Then I found this place and VAGOC,then it all went from bad to worse....
