I wouldn't bank on it I'm almost as embarrassed as Alonso lolWas an ok race today. I didn't do so well so I probably back at bottom of the table again x
Agree with you on Verstappen, have to say I thought he was over-hyped but so far he's been delivering apart from the odd mistake - but he's young and, surely, can only get better. It was an OK race. Good to see Verstappen doing his thing again. Would really like to see him in a Red Bull with a Ferrari engine next year.
Overtaking is difficult on that track, unless you are trying to overtake a Mclaren, as it's so narrow.
I really think F1 needs to rethink the actual race format. Two races with a reverse grid for the top 10 will provoke some better racing I am sure.
The BTCC touring cars have got it just right.
First race, grid positions determined by qualifying. Second race, grid positions determined by your fastest lap in the first race. Third race, random reverse grid drop of 6-10 places.
Three races too many for F1 but 2 would be better.

Personally, for F1, I'm not a massive fan of the fannying about with grid orders, it's a bit gimmicky IMHO. Also I don't think it would be that interesting in the context of F1 due to the issues staying close to the car in front. It works for touring cars because they aren't aero dominated plus there are weight penalties etc to even things out. In F1 it is up to the engineers to 'even' things out themselves and the cars are so massively aero dominated that it's difficult to get close to start with then impossible to stay with the car in front without destroying your tyres in short order.
Take away that aero however and it becomes easier to get close and overtake (at least in theory). This is an interesting read regarding ways to reduce aero in F1, which seems to make sense to me as a layman.
Great racing. Shame you weren't on the grid, Jojo. What am I watching here?!
Is this just about the best race of the season? Slithering F1 cars!! That's what we need to make a race exciting!
You couldn't see all the wheel to wheel racing from the grid! I'm watching it via streaming on my lappy at work!Great racing. Shame you weren't on the grid, Jojo.
I wish Jeff! I doubt I'm anywhere near the ability of an F1 driver! I'd love to have a go though hey!!I meant you should have been driving, jojo!
But the team gave Nico the chance to win by pitting him during the 3rd (I think) safety car, and he blew it.FWIW i think Rosberg was under orders not to beat Lewis, did you see the satisfying grin Toto Wolf gave Niki Lauda the moment Nico went wide. mission accomplished !!!
Yes, and the moon landings were faked.FWIW i think Rosberg was under orders not to beat Lewis, did you see the satisfying grin Toto Wolf gave Niki Lauda the moment Nico went wide. mission accomplished !!!
The last time Rosberg tried a daring move on Hamilton he punctured his rear tyre at spa. I don't think rosberg has that last 2% that is the difference between a great driver and a world champion. Rosberg cracks under pressure, seen several times where he has made mistakes that have cost him races.
Hamilton came from a family with very little, and he had to fight a lot harder to win in Karting and the lower classes. Rosberg had everything he wanted.
That determination and desire is something rosberg doesn't have in the same way Hamilton has.
Rosberg did try the 'ruthless' route last year, taking Hamilton out on the 2nd lap in the Belgian GP at Spa. However, it backfired against him, and when the finger of blame was pointed at him by the team, fans and commentators etc. he was totally uncomfortable with the situation. That was his downfall moment, he never recovered from that in my opinion, and it also made Lewis a stronger driver from then onwards.Hamilton is a racer. Rosberg isn't. Hamilton is instinctive. Rosberg isn't. Hamilton is ruthless. Rosberg isn't.
Next season it will be the same but with Vettle taking Rosberg's place. We'll see the last 7 years World Champions go at it head to head next season and I can't see Rosberg getting a look in.
Put young Max in a Merc and Hamilton will be up against himself 7 years ago. Now that would make it an interesting season.
100% Scottyg, and here's a forgotten but oh so familiar example where being sensible and losing one place could at least get you some points which in this case didn't:Hamilton is a racer. Rosberg isn't. Hamilton is instinctive. Rosberg isn't. Hamilton is ruthless. Rosberg isn't.
