Air Bag Warning Light

Hi All
Had a 2 to 1 alarm upgrade done yesterday and since I picked it up the Air Bag warning light on the dash and the passenger light above my head are both on.

Vag com reports the following:
VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Control Module Part Number: 8L0 959 655 J
Component and/or Version: Airbag Front+Seite 5008
Software Coding: 01104
Work Shop Code: WSC 01236
1 Fault Found:
01228 - Airbag Cut-Off Switch for Passenger Side (E224)
30-00 - Open or Short to B+

Any ideas? The car is still under warranty but I'm thinking Audi might blame the alarm installer. Should having an after market alarm effect the warranty?

Sounds to me as if the person fitting it has removed the glovebox and not reconnected the airbag disable switch when putting it back together.

Is that something I can check myself or is it a ****** to remove the glovebox?

Should be able to do it yourself.

There are a few screws, most of which are abvious. I'll have a look later when I get home for the exact screw (torx headed) locations.

Thanks Si

Also, out of interest, what do all the little buttons do behind the enable/disable airbag keyhole?

and another question....!!

Having done some more digging, I've read some threads where they say the passenger airbag can be reconnected, but the light remains on, and needs to be reset.

Anyone know whether this is something I can do with vag.com or is it a dealer only thing?

it can be done with vag-com. mine doesnt have the key hole must be due to being a 1998 model

Is there more to it than clearing the fault code as that does not do anything.

The fault just reoccurs when I switch the ignition off and on.

Here's some instructions how to remove the glovebox. You can at leat confirm whether the switch is connected or not.

Hi I have just brought an a3 1.9 tdi 110 sport, and I have only just noticed that the passenger air bag light comes on, I have tried switchin it on and off to see weather it makes a difference but it doesn't. Could any body help me with this please

Did he ever sort that out? I'm having the same fault code. where is the airbag disable switch ? i cant see mine??

Glove box doesn't need to be removed to just pop the side panel off with a small flat screwdriver and see if the switch is connected

Ah ok all connected and good. I doubled checked. Any other solutions.
