My audio a3 2.0tdi 2003 8p none of the doors will open and the key in the door won't work the battery is dead as I've been holiday what can I do ?!

Not alot apart from break a window or jack your car and take the engine out to get to the battery lol.

maybe you can break the bonnet lock and then you will be able to get to the batter but thats all i would think you can do

What about a jumper pack to the alternator to charge the battery ?

Might work but if the alternator doesnt work when the cars off then it wont charge the battery.

It's strange that the key won't work in the door lock. I never had that bother when my last Audi had a drained battery.

I thought the key in the door was mechanical so didn't need any power? Do you have another spare key to try?

Yeah I know I thought that as well but it just doesn't work and I only have 1 key

Okay. The only other thing I can think of is get access to a battery (you're probably going to need a new one anyway) and run connecting wires from the earth to the engine/gearbox and live to the starter motor main cable. You won't need much power to unlock the car.

Just done that the cd player comes on but still won't let me open any doors even got a wire and try ed opening it from the inside still nothing

Do you have breakdown cover? If so get them to come out they have a few tricks in opening car doors..

I used to be a locksmith, I can tell you how to get into the car but you have to be careful so you don't cause damage.

1. find something to pry the door, preferably something hard and plastic.
2. insert the tool between the door and rubber at the very top corner furthest from the hinge, lever it slightly until you can get your fingertips behind the door.
3. have someone help you gently pull the door at the top edge until you both have 2 hands on the top edge with fingertips behind the door.
4. now put one knee each on the door a few inches below the window, the knees must be in line.
5. pull very slowly and smoothly until some skinny armed person can open the door.

You should only need 4-6 inches gap to do this, as long as you don't go further and pull smoothly the door should be the same shape when you let go.

Already pulled the handle on the inside and pressed the unlock button mate nothings happened the thing I need to do is get the key in the ignition I think it's dead locked itself and somethings not allowing it to open

If it comes to putting a window in, do one of the rears so much easier to replace than a front window , unless you have a sport back with 5 windows

Just a thought but, have you tried replacing the battery in the fob just to be sure it's not that?

Failing that I would join the AA. Wait a few days then call them out.

This has happened to myself, battery died, key fob didnt work could not unlock the car...What I had to do was jack the car up and remove the scuttle panel under the engine and then connect the jump cables, positive to your starter or alternator if you can find see it from under the car and the negative jump lead to the body of the car (not the paint work) this then feeds the power back through the car and will eventually give the car enough power to unlock the car and then get a new battery ASAP!!
Speaking from my own personal experience, this worked a treat, I say leave it hooked up for about 10 mnutes and then give it a try. Let us know how you get on buddy:)

sure you are trying to get in the right car? lol

remove the oil level sender plug on the sump ,the outer 2 pins are + and - cant remeber which way round though ,if your quick in touching them and there wrong nothing will be damaged ,get some one to watch the dash , if its correct the whole dash will light up and function and so will the window switches etc . key should then at least work in door if not window can be wound down by pushing through door seal gap.

damn you posted that while i was writing the post.
