The wife left the key fob on a hot hob!
I got a new key fob and luckily the circuit board was intact so swapped to the new fob and changed the blade but unfortunately the glass transponder didn't fair so well.
can I buy a new transponder? and then code the key to the car?

The Key number is 8E0 837 220E, does anyone know which transponder it takes?

Give the wife a bill for the key-------------- on second thoughts don't do that as you'll get billed for other things, learnt that lesson a long time ago.

No idea on which transponder you need. Just pop into a Remote Car key specialist near you, they are popping up all over the place these days.

Ive done quite a lot of research for this over the years..

If the circuit board is fine..indeed its a straight swap to an empty shell Key Fob.

The transponder chip I believe is called an ID48 and is near enough cheap as chips to buy on Ebay. Fiver circa.

Its needs to be programmed obviously. There is a way to do this if you have one perfectly functioning key (spare) by placing 1 key in ignition and 1 in drivers door. Not sure which way around.

Otherwise, you need it to be reprogrammed by a specialist as Soot1 said.

A link to help you on Transponder Chips below.

Hope it goes well for you mate...do let us (or me) know what you do, as i have an empty Key Fob which needs all this done as my motor only came with one key.

Press & hold the unlock button, insert key in ignition still holding the unlock button, hold unlock in the on position for two seconds, turn key to off, remove key & release button.
