As title says, owned my Q7 just over a week now, the built in nav is "good" but a lot of the places I go to just aren't stored in the Nav system, the tomtom has a lot more postcodes and (in my opinion) the routing criteria is superior as well.

Anyway, i'm looking into hard wiring my tomtom into the dash (so the wire is goes neat behind the dashboard) problem is, the guy I usually use for electrical work and problems likes this doesn't have any wiring diagrams for a Q7 and he doesn't want to "stab in the dark" with where to come off for a 12v signal on ignition live.

Can anyone help with this one?

It's a 2014 (64 plate) with keyless start (I think that's why he is worried!!)

I have a hardwired setup for my road angel or anything that uses a micro usb.
I also have keyless start etc but mine is a my11.
What is fitted in mine is a road angel power adapter that is live when ignition is on and off when off.
I will try to take some photos tonight or at the weekend for you of the fuse box area that it is tapped off (Passenger side UK)

That would be perfect ta. I just need a 12v live (with ignition activation) so I can "T" off to power a cigarette lighter (female) adapter so I can plug my tomtom lead in, the tomtom lead bit sorts it out so the voltage is 5v 1amp from there anyway so no need to worry. That's what i've done in the past anyway.

On a slightly related side note however. Today I have given the factory fit nav the benefit of the doubt and popped in a pay as you go data sim card, the Google maps part is ****** brilliant and all of a sudden I had LOADS more addresses available, then I ran out of data and needed to topup but I only started with a fiver! May look at sim-only data bundles for like £10/month to make the most of that feature!

On my second tank of fuel now and comfortably averaging around 36-38mpg so happy with that :)

We can fit the hardwiring properly if interested :)

That would be fantastic. Where abouts are you located?

We work all over, whereabouts are you located?

Oh ok I see I am located in Spalding, Lincolnshire. Hopefully not too far away.

Just out of interest I see you are a VCDS user as well. If you do come fit the nav I would also be interested in:

GPS Speedometer on the nav screen (apparently I can have it)

Battery level indicator on the MMI Screen

My "Dynamic" setting in air suspension to be a little "lower"

A kwerky feature but also apparently I can have it, Boost guage with lap timer function?

Apparently all possible in VCDS?

Also any other features i'm all ears to what I can get out of this!
