Hey guys.
Finally got those wheels i wanted for my cabriolet.
Picked up some 19" BBS Speedlines as fitted to the A5/A6
They currently have a pair of 235 / 35 19s with them but are slightly stretched - rim is a 9J.
My question is, can i run a wider tyre? to get rid of the stretch, I do plan on going lower but not on its **** !!
Any help or pictures appreciated, i know you guys are the ones to ask !! cheers

235/35/19 is the correct tyre, but tyres differ a lot in side wall stance between manufacturers........on mine the rear Bridgestones look stretched, but the front Nexens look flush with the rim.

If you go wider then the tyre profile will need to go lower as it is a percentage of the width.....to keep you rolling radius the same and not put the clock out.

Also to concider.............you may have an issue with full lock rubbing with a wider tyre.

Hello Will,

As above.. Mike M helped me out with my fitment. Im running 235's on a 9j rim too. I have 20inch wheels and there is a stretch on mine. Look at my posts to find pics of my set up if you wish.

I may in future run 245 to cover more of the rim as my profile is very low (30) This is also fine if you dont slam it too low.

Pics below of a random cabbie with 245's on 20's

Hope this helps

First to my aid again mike mate, thankyou.
To be honest, they aren't too bad, the stretch is pretty minor and I don't like stretched tyres ( or should I say extream stretching!!)
I'm going to go budgets as I don't mind them, and stretching can kill them quickly, was thinking XL as the walls can be thicker than normal load.
Thankyou for confirming the size though, I'll get some ordered :)

Thankyou DrS, Ill have a nosey today and see. I did feel I'd rather run 245s but the rims are ****** wide !! I want the balance right, low, nice wheels but practical & useable !!

Pleasure mate.

My 235's on 9inch wide look lovely as they sit in line with the arches. But thats how i like it.

Yes indeed they are a lot wider than OEM wheels but 245's will be fine.

I hear you about the practicality etc...a never ending story potentially.

I have 245 35 19's on MTM Bimotos ET 35 on my S4 Cab. No rubbing whatsoever and no contact when steering lock to lock. The suspension is stock S4 but with B5 perches. I wanted to use 245's as the load rating was higher than with the 235's.
A rolling radius calculator I used said the speedo would be fine.

Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention the rims are 8.5J wide.

These are 9Js mate.
I've got them fitted. 235s clear no worries, I do plan to lower it though, and I've a pair of b5 perches waiting.
Shame, I rekon the front will sit loverly on the b5 perches up front but the back wants an inch off.
