Hi all,

I'm hoping this isn't as daft a question as it sounds.

I've just had my car serviced by Ridgway Audi in Oxford. when I've picked it up and checked the service schedual on the MMI it was showing the milage and days as reset for the interval but on the inspection section just the milage. Am I correct in thinking the days on the inspection is refering to the Brake fluid change date?

I'm planning on doing this with an upgrade to a set off an S4 hence want to reset the indicator when I do. Will the VCDS SRI reset options cover this?

Thanks in advance
Greg

The car isn't interested in brake fluid changes. I think it just times down oil changes for the long life and the amount of miles to the next service interval. If that includes a scheduled brake fluid change then that will happen there.
S4 Brakes are a good upgrade, if you haven't got the pads already the red stuff ones are very good.

Karl.

Cheers Karl,
I was wondering if the car could be that clever I'll run a sri rest on it at the weekend then to try and clear the service reminder.

As for the pads no I've not picked any up yet. The brakes I've picked up are off an S5 which I believe to be identical, I've run green stuff pads previously but had major problems with the pad material crumbling after some heavy useage on my old golf. I went to ferodo DS2500 pads after that which were very good, but I'm wondering if the price tag for them is worth in on this one as its probably not going to get quite as much as a battering as the golf got.

I upgraded the brakes on my A4 with brakes off an S5 they are the same. I have used Red stuff pads on mine for about a year now and have been very impressed. If you are planning on doing some track days then the Ferodo pads are better than the Red stuffs. I have only got the red stuffs to fade once and that was after I had caned the car pretty hard for 15 minutes doing quite a few high speed stops trying to get the turbo nice and hot. Even then the brakes still pulled the car up. I was seriously impressed. Greenstuff are little better than standard pads.
I use my car car to do the odd track day at a short sprint track near me and the brakes have no isuues there.
You can get the redstuff pads from carpartsforless for around £80 odd pounds against DS2500 pads which are around £180-£200

Hmm that's sound pretty good particularly at that price. I might give them a shot.
Cheers for the heads up.

As a heads up,
I went through the SRI reset options over the weekend.
There is an option to reset the milage and days as seperate items.

The reset of the days gives 720 days hence could be used as a reminder for brake fluid (or thats what i'm going to use it as for the time being)

Cheers
