The other week while washing the car I noticed that the inner lip on the front wings had very slight bubbling on them in a couple of places, only about 3mm in size. So I got in touch with the local dealer and told them I would like to make a corrosion claim. They got me to come down to garage so that they could take a look. He took some photos and did a paint thickness test. He said Audi might put this down to stone chips, I said they are not stone chips when the paint is still on and it's starting to bubble. He replied all I can do is put it to Audi and see what they say.
Well today I got a phone call saying that Audi would accept the claim, so the car is booked in on the 6th of July for the front wings and they will supply me with car while the work is getting done. I cheekily asked if the courtesy car could be a rs4 he just laughed.
So keep a eye on your front wings mine is a 58 plate.

I have a 58plate avant and my boot is corroding near the lights about the size of a 20p coin. I've had some additional paint work done around the wheel arches from stone chips but nothing on the boot. Would it invalidate my claim?

No it shouldn't, they would do the paint test on the boot lid the area which you are claiming for.

Mine are the same on 2009 one. Only noticed as since I lowered it, it started catching on the front wings, so I had a look and noticed corrosion all the way round. Might give it a go.

My avant has had two claims on the boot. Both accepted and done free of charge.

Hmm, on what basis do they accept these claims? Is it based on if you've bought the car off a main dealer or if you have full main dealer service history?

i dont think that would make a difference, service history has nothing to will bodywork. i didnt buy the car from the dealer who i made the claim through and didnt have the car from new

How long is the Audi paint warranty ?

My car is also a 58 plate

Warranty durations are in the service book for each item but corrosion is 12 years on the b8. Be sure not too have any untreated stone chips as they will almost certainly use it as an excuse.

I have stone chips on my bonnet and bumper but none on the wings. Surely they can't use that as an excuse as they are on different panels

I have an 08 with some bubbling on the inner lip as described by the OP. Do you know whether this warranty would also cover paint fade? The plastic sills on the body kit are starting to fade as well

Have seen a few B6, and early (2004/05) B7s now with crumbling front arches. A few Golfs and Passats too, but this is the first I've seen it on a B8. My old A3 was starting to show the faintest trace of a bubble starting in the same area. Seems to be stuff getting trapped between the wheelarch liner and the metal. if you direct the pressure sprayer up that gap you'll be horrified at just how much s**t comes out of it.

I had the same on my 2011 plate on the bottom of both wings. Took it in and they phoned next day saying that Audi UK have accepted the claim. Seems that something bust designed wrong to corrode on a 3 1/2 year old car.

common place for rust on the b8 saloon is the bootlid close to where the lights meet the lip ,where the boot handle is hidden ,as the boot is actually glued together so with lifting it opens the seal and water gets in around the light ,rusting the boot lid

I have a bubble on my lid...might need to take it in...

I have noticed bubbling on the arches of my 08 avant so will be contacting Audi tomorrow. Fingers crossed
Also at the bottom of the A pillar where it meets the top of the wing and bonnet the paint looks almost see through.
Where exactly does the bubbling occur on the boot lid of the avant?

I've got bubbling next to the roof channels on my A4 (sorry, I know this is a Cab thread but its pertinent to my question I guess) but the car is a 53 plate. Am I best of getting in touch with a dealer now as I'm still within the 12 year period? (but only just!)
