A3/S3 8V MY16 Info/Rumour Thread

Dealer told me a year and a half at least so that would be q1 2017 on the road, I can't see it being early 2016 with the new rs3 just coming onto the road, no chance!

Both cars are targeting totally different audiences so I don't see why not

Golf MY2016 (starting at next month production) is getting upgraded to MIB-II platform with CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink support.
A3 MY2016 (June 2015) will be "technologically outdated" for +1 year until A3 MY2017? (June 2016) that's strange.

Perhaps the Golf infotainment system is easier to modify than the rather complicated Audi MMI system.

So this "early 2015" is rubbish? That's what my salesman said..!

Audi have already sent details of the changes for the 2016 MY to the dealers. Perhaps your salesman needs to read it.

Meh, the facelift for the A3 looks terrible.
I rather Audi just put out the Matrix LED headlights and dynamic indicators they showed off in 2011 on the Concept A3.

Would win over points more if in addition they sold those adjustments as optional upgrades for current 8V A3/S3s. But I know this is all a pipe dream.

Managed to get an order number and called Audi UK customer services. Apparently I'm getting a MY16 car with MY15 engine in it?! The CO2 figure (which affects company car benefit in kind tax) was 102g/km for 2015 and is 107g/km for 2016 on the 1.6TDI s-tronic. but I'm told mine will be MY16 Ibis white with the lower CO2 engine. Also the build week is apparently 27 which is extremely disappointing considering the order was placed in March. At least it explains the 31/7 delivery though :-(

I got told it will be the MY16 figures and that it's not the engine that has change in fact it's new regulations set in by the EU. If you notice it's different depending on wheel size..
So I don't think that would be correct.. Well I have been told differently by audi support..

Don't get me wrong I hope you are right because I would imagine same would apply to me as I am build week 27.

Um, he isn't a big tease.

I have just flipped through all the pages and wondered if @djr had a summary of what Audi dealers have been sent which hopefully will be a. definitive and b. stop the speculation.

Cheers

As @veeeight said there is a list within this thread please read the whole thread and you'll find it. It covers all audi models too!

I wonder if the facelift model will get the new TT's fancy LCD display *fingers crossed*

It's a long time to wait!
can't say I'm a big fan. too 'Nissan R35' looking. much prefer raw dials to feel more engaging and less like I'm playing GT5 on my playstation.

I'm quite relaxed about it and don't think any facelift will see significant changes anyway, perhaps a few tweaks and some extras added into the standard spec. Certainly isn't putting me off my September collection :)
won't make me part with mine. changes won't be as drastic as it was for the 8P S3 I think. correct me if I'm wrong but the 8P came out in 2006 and the facelift followed in 2008 so 2016 could well be a possibility. not fussed either way.

So, absolutely minimal changes mused by someone who thinks there may be a facelift. Why do these people bother?

Agreed, looks like a new set of lights (possibly), and that's about it. I would be surprised if they changed the lights though, as the eyebrows DRLs are the signature look of the A3 range. I'd take it all with a big pinch of salt until Audi actually release something

The A1 also has the same DRLS from Feb 15

Closer look they are vary similar but just noticed they are the other way around...

hahahah, rendered by a 21 yr old, albeit car enthusiast, but is there any weight in HIS speculative renderings? as mentioned earlier, RS3 just out with the eyebrow DRL's, about to replace with matrix so early? doubtful.

From Audi.Com website so I'm guessing mainly applies to the saloon as they seem to currently have the S/B in E-Tron only :-

Highlights of the 2016 Model Year line-up changes are as follows:

2016 Audi A3 Model Line
The 2016 Audi A3 continues on its path of offering a strong entry to the Audi premium lineup with expanded standard equipment. For 2016, the model increases its standard offering to include a rearview camera and parking sensors, Alu-optic interior trim details, heated mirrors and washer nozzles, all in addition to the existing standard Audi pre sense® basic, Audi xenon plus front lighting with LED DRLs and taillights, leather seating surfaces, Panoramic sunroof and ultra-thin retractable MMI® display. A suite of driver assistance features become available in Prestige, with Active lane assist, Audi pre sense front and Audi adaptive cruise control. Available features also include Audi drive select, Sport and the newly available S line® style package, 4G LTE connectivity, and Bang & Olufsen® audio.

The S3 delivers greater performance for everyday use and is now offered in a distinctive Black Optic Performance package, including Audi Sport® 5-V-spoke Titanium matte wheels, black optic exterior kit and Audi magnetic ride. Available red brake calipers, S Sport seat package and a 19” wheel package round out the aggressive position of this sporty model.

Not sure if any of these apply to the UK as I can't find anything specific to UK markets. Would be interested to see what is meant by Alu-optic interior trim details ?. Nothing earth shatteringly new just a bit of juggling of spec which is fairly common for a M.Y. update. Wonder why we don't get the V spokes over here as well ?

Currently the start / stop system only indicates it's working through the DIS.

By adding it to the rev counter it will have a position for "off" (engine off or needs restarting with the key) and "ready" (engine ready to re-start when stopped at a junction or in traffic for example).

Currently when start / stop is in use the rev counter needle drops to zero. Only the DIS tells you the engine is ready to re-start.

BMW's have had this for a while :)

Here's a pic of it on the RS3 ....

Wow that is lot of standard spec. I had a look at the price on the US website last night, at all this standard spec starts at 29,000 us dollars. That's pretty darn cheap compared to what we pay for our pitiful bcar spec car. Wish my car on order had of some of this base spec

Yea i think america has the right idea in that they sell trims that cater to different tastes with full options loaded on! Our SE,Sport and S-Line barely add anything. Definitely wish we were offered Premium, Premium plus and prestige instead :(

Yes but just about everything, except perhaps health insurance, is so much cheaper in the USA. If Audi all the kit in their spec and priced it accordingly the A3 would be too expensive for the UK market. Cars have to be priced according to their market. UK cars are generally have much more 'kit' as standard than the same cars in Germany because their market works on a lower basic price and then you add and pay for what you want. The UK is similar but does have a bit more as standard.

Personally it's the system I prefer as it allows me to buy what I want without paying out for extras that I don't want. VW for example take a different approach and include kit on some of their cars which I would not want. For example I could purchase an A3 2.0TDI-184 s-tronic quattro in Sport trim with 17" alloys and SE suspension. Exactly what I wanted. When I looked at the Golf to get the 184 engine I would have to have bought a GTD with 18" wheels and sport suspension and privacy glass none of which I would entertain. Audi give me the choice.

By the way does anyone have a picture of the new MY16 interior mirror yet?

We've seen a picture of the new gauge that shows that start stop is active on the rev counter (not sure if thats just for the RS3) but be interesting to see if anyone's taken delivery of a MY16 car yet.

I've checked the RS3 brochure which shows the new rev counter but the mirror looks exactly the same.

From the Geneva 2015 motorshow pictures I've seen of the RS3 the interior mirror is the same as what is fitted to my car. What change were you expecting ?

One of the things listed as changing on the MY16 change (BW22 cars this year onwards) was an interior mirror redesign, just curious since it was about the only change LOL

Hmm will be interesting to see that - motorshow cars are often cobbled together in a rush so could be any manner of mix & match bits on the one I saw.

Looking at the latest update I've received for the ETKA parts catalogue the interior mirror has a different part number for production after 25 May 2015. The normal Model Year change point is 1 June.

Hi Everyone!

Took delivery of my new A3 today and its a MY16 car, so thought I'd just update all (Relevant pics attached)

  • The rev counter has changed on the standard models too (previously we saw it in the RS3) therefore now the gauge shows off (engine off) and ready (auto/start stop kicked in but engine still on)
  • New interior mirror design, I've got the comfort pack and the switch is now under the mirror with a little green light, buttons no longer on the face of the mirror, it also seems a bit more square to me but not sure if I'm imagining this because my last test drive was back in April but one thing is for sure its a lot brighter during the day!!! so think the way the anti dazzle works has changed
  • On another note, I had SD Nav installed and its 3D!!
  • Also does anyone know what the EPC yellow light is? never seen this before on another car (books in the garage and im being lazy lol)
