Hey all,

I've got some rust bubbling up on the front driverside wheel arch, right on the lip above the wheel. And would like some advice on what to do about it, I was quoted about £150 to get the whole arch sprayed but I'd rather see if I can fix it myself, and if so, how to go about doing it.

Thanks all!

Just spoke to the closest Audi body shop to me, they do repair body/paintwork under the 10 year warranty if the area/panel etc is the original, so not resprayed etc. I have a feeling it has been done in the past. They did say bring the car down and they'll take a look but the earliest they can do to get estimates is early June. I'd prefer to get the car fixed before then!

So unless I get a 3rd party to look at it, does anyone have experience they can give me on fixing myself?

1 tip for you , if you dont grind/sand all of the rust out 100% it will come back . try to avoid wet sanding filler or primer as it causes rust . probably cheaper and quicker to get a second hand wing in top condition and swap it over .

isit pre facelift? mate its silver there will be loads of wings about check local scrap yards check the bay you will get 1 for about 50quid just bring closure to the eyesore instead of waiting for audi to tell you that your not covered in your paint protection programme as yours isn't manufacture paint

What's causing the rust m8 has it been chipped?

yea, It's the pre face lift. Not sure what caused it tbh, I'm guessing some chip or something that's let air/water to the metal. Or a poor job if it had been been done before. I gotta get the car into the bodyshop anyway for some other bits so might see if they can do me a deal :)

I took mine to audi as I have spot bits all around my car and now forming holes which will open up and just spread everywhere!
When he had a look he did all the tests and said it's had no previous work took some pictures and said they will get back to me in a few months! They did get back to me eventually to tell me it didn't pass and that I have to get hold of head office! Turns out they don't want to respray as much as possible so they blame it on how the car has been treated plus I was 3rd owner and not 1st! mine 7 years old most probably didn't stand a chance unless it was less than 3 or 4 years old!!
