RNS-E Bluetooth Streaming - Possible Solution

Ok 3.20 hasn't updated anything for Android.

Welcome to the site.

Its been perfectly ok in my car :)

thank you for this.
so it does stay on and flashes even though the keys removed.

Cant see any reason why not to leave it in 24/7?

I've monitored this & it does appear to go to sleep as I have watched my phone & the BT connection when cars locked & say probably 10 minutes later disconnects fine.

Mine stays active for about 10 min after locking the car, seems to power up again when you open the drivers door.

I have had mine in the car for a long time now, no battery issues.

The car is designed to be able to handle an iphone / ipod plugged into the same connector and they draw significantly more power, so don't stress about it.

Just looks like a cheap chinese copy of the Tune2Air, buy cheap buy twice!

Comes up doesn't post to UK on mine.

I got one of these about 2 months ago and have no issues with it.

I have the RNSE V1 and it works well with iOS7, I can use Spotify and the tune2air from my MFSW controls with no problems. Any music that plays on my phone goes straight through the car now. I've got traktor on my phone which shows how good this thing is as there is literally no lag when putting effects on, bringing songs in etc. Which IMO is amazing for wireless technology!

As soon as you sit in the car it connects up fine (and doesn't interfere with the handsfree bluetooth either).

Best £50 purchase for the car, easily!

Guys. On the mk1 rnse. Where would this be plugged into? And would the iphone be controlled from the stereo or the iphone itself?

Can someone pls tell me the WHat the AMI is? Sorry. Still learning.

MK1 doesnt support ami, that ebay dongle may plug into the older crappy ipod unit, but you wont get track, artist or album data, only ami will provide this & that requires a mk2 rns-e as a base for ami fitment, we fit all these systems.

Can someone who has this and an android phone tell me how this compares to sound quality from aux in? I have all my music in FLAC format on my phone.

Hi Adam ami ,audi music interface ;)

Stealing my pic eh :)

AMI is highly recommended, only gripe is that shuffle doesn't stay on if you turn the car off but you can't have everything ;)

Just a quick warning I've just updated to ios8 GM and the Bluetooth is messed up now on phone calls not playing through Bluetooth.
Also music plays in the background now when running traktor which can not be stopped.
Has anyone else upgraded to ios8??

Has anyone got a solution to the iOS 8 with no talking via rnse Bluetooth. It's a right pain in the neck.

Android..... In all serious it looks like people are still having problems even with 8.0.2, some people have found resting the phone helps other just changing the name and repairing. Apple really need to fix this BT issue and the other problems with this version of IOS.

Hi ive found this thread and read with interest cause im wanting to buy one for my A3. I dont completely understand what ami is so i'll just ask my question - Does it work with the Concert headunit and the ipod connector in the glovebox? is this what ami is? im not bothered if i can only control tracks from the iphone - i use it to play internet radio (181.fm)

Bump.... Can anyone help with my question two posts up?

Just wanted to drop a note here since this thread was useful when I was researching. I bought a 2006 A3 with the RNS-E (and xm and bluetooth phone) and after a bunch of research got the Grom BT3 to stream music via bluetooth which seems to work (since I don't care about xm or the cd multichanger)

@skitten welcome to audi-sport.net. Glad you finding the forum informative. Enjoy. :) x

Hi stumbled on this thread,

will the tune2air work with my glove box ipod dock?

which looks like
ipod-jpg.31097

its connected to a Audi Concert System

I brought a similar product a while ago and when i had it plugged in it wouldn't power up.

Currently I have a ageing ipod which I loathe bringing out the car and booting up itunes, I'm not interested in song info just want to be able to stream from my Android phone to the car, Spotify would be a plus but not necessary

edit: image was huge picked a random one off google which was smaller

So how is this item proving with the latest iOS firmware please? Thinking of buying one as a bit tired of the old fashion lead jobbie.
Thanks in advance

Factory fitted Ami?

Is tune2air firmware up-to-date.

RNS firmware up-to-date

Test with ami USB cable with own/external drive & music

Test direct with iPhone/iPod

Various things to test 1st

The Ami is factory fitted and the RNS runs on the latest firmware. I have tried in the past another Bluetooth and usb cable direct to the iPhone and same story got audio only on the left side.

Maybe its not factory fit. There is a slight difference in the pin outs of the AMI for the A4/A5/Q5 and the A3/TT/R8 that I know about and using the wrong interface cable between the RNS-E and the AMI causes the sound to be lost or very very quiet on one channel. I know this as it happened to me when I retrofitted an AMI to an RNS-E with the wrong harness.

I use WMA3000A that plugs directly to my cars AMI port. I can stream music via bluetooth, very good sound quality and can play other music app like Pandora or Spotify, just have to have at least one song in iPhone music library. It also supports android for streaming only. In short, I am happy with this product.

Does anyone know if th tune2air stays on after the key has been removed from the ignition?
I want one of these but dont know if I leave it in my glovebox if it will affect the cars battery?

anyone with one leave it connected permantly? any battery drain?

The device will turn off if you turn off your car.
