Hi all, I have a B6 1.8t saloon that's in need of two new front wings, general rust in the normal place. Does anyone know of where I can get some good replacement wings? Audi want £200 each and that's with my trade discount.

Thanks, Joe.

I got mine through TPS, £150 each inc vat for genuine ones. Not worth scrimping on cheap wings, they will rust twice as quickly and be a nightmare to fit properly. Maybe have a look to get some genuine second-hand originals from a breaker.

If you are keeping the car go genuine like greeny has said,if ur selling it on then the eBay ones seem ok.

Berkshire panels, all insurance approved and a very good fit,(according to my body shop guy)

I got a pair of A4 Cabriolet wings for £300 from http://www.deutsche-parts.co.uk recently.

I now need to find somewhere to spray them for me. My local bodyshop recommends spraying the wings and 'blowing the colour halfway along the doors' to ensure a good match, he's quoted £720 for the job.

I need to get a second quote for comparison as it seems a lot to me..

That is a lot, iv'e been quoted £650 to fit one wing and spray complete front end and obviously blend in doors, that may also be over the odds but I've used him in the past and trust his work.

The insurance bill for replacing one wing (genuine) and a little damage to the leading edge of the door was in that region.

I've just replaced both my front wings due to rust.

I bought a couple of these at £40 each delivered!

The fit is excellent and you'd not tell they weren't genuine unless you removed the bumper and saw the "made in Taiwan" stamped on them. As long as they're painted correctly and undersealed etc, they should be as good as genuine. These cars are so old and cheap now, it's simply not worth spending the premium of oem panels on them when there are viable pattern parts available.

I'm happy to provide high res photos of mine for anyone that needs convincing.

I agree to a certain extent but personally would still want insurance approved panels on my vehicle.

Absolutely.. The link I posted was for insurance approved panels :)

That's a great price then, I'm hoping the one I have that has started to go can be repaired but I doubt it will so will be looking at those ones.

I've seen the wings fitted on Garths, they're a good fit. For £40 you can't go wrong really. I reckon £80 is a damn sight better than £300+ from Audi/TPS.

I was of the school of thought that Audi ones are the only way to go seeing as I intend to keep the car long-term and always try to fit the best to her no matter what, but after chatting to my mechanic friend (old boy, builds rally cars for a living) he reckons they wont come galvanized now anyway even if they are from Audi so I may aswell get some decent pattern parts....which is an interesting concept/thought.

TBH I bet Audi wings weren't even galvanized to begin with, the amount they rust through on our cars and on how many different VAG cars they go crusty on.... In retrospect, I've got a scratch on the corner of the bonnet from about 2 years ago thanks to brother-in-law catching it with the end of the wiperblade/arms when re-fitting them after plenum chamber clean and that is still silver underneath the scratch - no rust whatsoever. Now that, is galvanised. Same with the stone chip at the front of the bonnet, been there nigh on 2 yrs and NO discolouration, still clean and silvery looking underneath. I'd say the bonnet is defo galvanized but these factory Audi wings?? Hmm....I'm not so sure.

Still in the middle tbh, don't tknow which way I'm gonna go. Just gonna leave them to rot for the time being.

How's the S4 coming along Garth?

Slow going as I'm also trying to decorate the house at the same time!

I have done quite a lot to it so far including:
New wings, number plates & holders, lots of interior trim & mats, RNSE & bluetooth retrofit, custom SS exhaust, flat bottom steering wheel, retrimmed the gearknob, gaiter handbrake and I'm currently retrimming the door pulls. When I get the time, I'll be retrimming the seats too. I hopefully will be getting new wheels this month, but I'm trying to sort out the last few remaining problems first.

Considering it was the cheapest B6 S4 Avant in the country, it is pretty damn tidy now :) By the end of the year, it should be like new.

I will be updating this when I get some time:

Wow, you've come a long way since last month, Well done mate! Gotta say, I admire your no messin' about attitude. Good luck with it, I'm sure it'll be a peach when you've finished with it. What wheels are you looking at?

Thank you. Hopefully I can make better progress soon too.

I like to stick to OEM wherever possible and I can't find anything I like as much as these:

They'll look fly on the Avant I reckon :) Got my eyes open for some decent wheels for ours some point before the summer season.

Just read the thread on TT forum, Terrific write-ups man, made me chuckle, Especially the wee apprentice!!!

Good luck to you pal, I'll keep in touch no doubt.
