Audi A6 2.0TDI - MMI Basic plus. I want to update the MMI SW version to be compatible with the MP3 6 cd changer. Can someone confirm the correct part number of the MP3 changer? Also do I need to keep the single CD player and add the new changer or can it be stand alone? Will the new new cd changer when installed be in CP? Also with the MMI update does that update the gateway SW version?

Not sure if the MP3 changer will work on MMI basic. The Single CD player on MMI basic is the main MMI control head, and cannot be removed or replaced.
I have read that if you update the SW to the latest version it brings MP3 support. But have to have the 6 cd changer as well as the single CD player. Have found the update cd's (4L0 998 961) and will check the current SW version. Just need to confirm the compatable and correct part number of the MP3 6 cd changer. Anyone help please?
Mp3 compatible cd changer number 4E0035110 with letter revision i.e. A at the end. Say something like this:

All cd changers have component protection, so you'll have to visit audi dealer or independent garage with GeKo to adapt it to your car.

Agreed, but the OP would also need a replacement glove box with the secondary CD-Changer slot and the wiring harness set which just adds to the cost.
I had considered the Dension and had that auction watched in my Ebay. But wanted to confirm which would be the cheaper/quicker/better option. Thank you both for time and knowledge.
