Okay so there have been various threads covering the DTUK tuning boxes, but not one showing a definitive guide on installation.

Does anyone know how on earth to connect the boost sensor 2 plug? It looks like I need to lift the car up? If so I've massively under estimated the time and difficulty of installation.

Once (if) I do get it installed I'll post up a step by step guide.

yeah, jack from drivers wheel side, access via the floor pan, just loosen a few screws and get your hand in there. That's how I did it.

So the whole engine cover doesn't need to be removed? Just undo the ones closest the drivers side?

Aye. I just did a few screws and got my hand in there.

Jack from the drivers side but the connector is just off-centre to the car, almost in line with the S3 badge as far as I can remember, just above that cover. You'll spot it no probs.

Will give it a shot cheers, feeling pretty disappointed atm :(

Update: so I've just spent at least an hour under the car trying to do it, but couldn't manage it.

I'll return the box I think, this clearly doesn't live up to my need of a box that can be removed easily.

Cheers for the help :)

The DTUK box was going to be the first mod when I get my S3, but I don't think its as good as the hype suggests. Its not that easy to fit, and although its not a cheap eBay resistor in a box, all it does is increase boost? I was under the impression it adjusted fuelling too since it goes into multiple sensors. I would rather have a proper map than the risk of running it lean.

FYI the MTM box can be plugged in 5 minutes and don't need to go below the car.

noooooooooooooooooooooooo

MTM kit costs way more than the FSR+, way more.

Yeh I'll be ordering the mtm, I've done a lot of research into it, it's just very expensive. (Even more so i go for the warranty)

I've not got one but my mate has the DTUK box and I swear he installed it in 30 mins or less
I must be doing something wrong then, had the car jacked up with nearly all the lower engine cover screws out.

Doesn't seem possible to do it without taking the cover off tbh. At least without risking getting the connector off and not being able to get it back on.

Roughly £1300 with the mtm engine warranty.

Quite a lot really :(

well, if you are struggling, then to be honest, it's not the kit for you.

But I really can't see how you are struggling, I really can't.

MTM kit is around 1200 squid I believe.

Yeh think your right, it certainly isn't what I was expecting anyway.

It would be very easily if I had a lift.

The mtm kit is what I need really, seems to suit all my requirements

The under tray should come off. It takes about 2-3mins once you're under the car to remove the under tray. Very easy.

Once that is clear, the bottom boost sensor takes 5mins or so of fiddling around with.

No wonder you struggled trying to do it with the under tray in place.

dude, 5 mins with the sensor once the floor pan is off... 5? really?

its unplug and plug. done. you do not need to take off the tray at all, you just need enough room to get your hand in. it is so simples. honestly, it really baffles me and some peoples interpretation of difficult. a few screws and a quick release connector.

god forbid if a light bulb blows, god forbid.

Basically I was under the impression that the box could be connected in 10 mins. Had the idea that if something went wrong I could remove it at the road side. Obviously that's not possible.

I'm sure they'll be happy to help if you give them a call? I've heard they provide a great a service.

Yeah they've seemed good, today they've been busy though. Just seems like the system isn't appropriate for me really.

What did you want me to say? A minute? 90 secs ?

On average, it will take about 5 mins to familiarise yourself where the sensor is, how it disconnects and how to route and tie wrap the wiring up through to the top of the engine bay in the neatest and best manner.

If you were to do it a 2nd time on a 2nd car 6 months later it would perhaps take you 3 mins if you were timing yourself against the clock. However, I didnt realise it was a race.

Go on then, tell me how many seconds it took you to do counting from the very first second you removed the under-tray? You knew exactly where the sensor was, how it disconnected, how to route the wiring up to top and the best place to use the tie wraps to keep it free from snagging? You done all this on a jack with the underside of the car a few inches off the tip of your nose and you done all this in what? A minute? Go you. Well done. You're a hero.

It is much easier to do as a newbie with the undertray off. Apparently some can get their skinny arms down from the top and do it but if you're to follow the instructions and do the job properly step by step then you will be taking the undertray off and doing the job properly.

Moral of the story is, don't mis advise people. The guy is clearly struggling to do it and you're taking the **** like you're some god telling him he's stupid and that it's a piece of ****. Someone that is unfamiliar with tools will not find it a piece of ****. Simple as that. Do not mis advise. This isn't an isolated finding, I've counted over 10 threads on the subject between both forums from people who have struggled.

You're clearly a hero though and you're clearly racing the stopwatch (and you're clearly cutting corners) The undertray takes a couple of minutes to remove, why not just do the job properly? Have a good look instead of squeezing hands in and bending undertrays putting stress on other attachment screws.

My advice mate, spend that couple of extra minutes doing the job properly and don't listen to internet hero's who think it's a competition to beat the stop clock.

I stand by my 5 mins.

Decided I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow, but will only have it until I get a mtm box.

Thanks for the tips, just seems my arms aren't small enough to do it without the cover off unfortunately haha.

It's good you are at least giving it a go. I wasn't at all berating you in any of my posts, despite leo's attempt to either convince himself otherwise, I'm not quite sure what point he was making tbh. But be positive, because it really is quite easy and the results outweigh the half to one hour of effort (simply because of having to jack the car). Be sure to be on program 3+3 from the off :)

Don't suppose you've got an easy way of getting the plug out? I can just about get my hand in, but can't get the plug off!

If you hang fire till tomorrow, i'll get photos of the connectors and show you where they go.

If you've done the upper ones, the lower one is exactly the same type connector.....

Yeh I know it is, I was just wondering if there were any tips as to how to get the locking bit off when you don't have total movement in the gap.

Sure I'll figure it out.

@JordanQuattro that'd be awesome thanks

I used a set of raper car ramps with extensions, took the under tray off (it is easier and quicker to just take it off than faff about trying to squeeze in there) and then plugged it in.
Gave it a test start to check was all fine and then put the tray back on.
I would say it took me about 30-45 minutes all in (without the 20 minutes I spent faffing about trying to do it without taking the under tray off) that includes cable tying the wires off.

I'll tell you next week how long it takes when I take it off again ;)

Did that today but I couldn't get the last set of screws out (the ones closest the rear of the car). They seemed to be absolutely solid.

Anyhow decided that the system isn't for me and I'll either get the apr map or the mtm box.

Many thanks for all the assistance though :)

So where does the MTM box plug into then?? Does it not do the same as the DTUK box??

Really don't know much about MTM if I'm honest.

From the instructions it just plugs into the wiring that goes into the ecu, there's a few members on here that have one, hopefully they might confirm?

I think it adjusts / monitors a lot more variables also

I confirm the MTM M-Cantronic plug just between the ECU and captors, see enclosed pic of mine before installation.

Cheers for the confirmation, looks like I'll bite the bullet and get one ordered.

Hi - I bought one of these after reading people saying it could take 20-30 minutes, maybe an hour to fit... However, I found I had to go an buy a set of ramps to be able to get to the lower sensor. The time to fit is probably about right if you've done it a few times and are able to ramp the car... That said, I will stick with it and just hope nothing happens that causes the car to go back direct to Audi under warranty as there is no quick way to remove the box (on the S3 anyway)...
