Hi guys

Best hardware and best software for stage 2+ s3 8p?

I have purchased a milltek tbe and have made a list of parts that i still need to get, have a look below and jus tell me if anyfin missing or not required??

Tbe exhaust
Loba fuel pump
Front mount intercooler
Cold air intake
Diverter valve piston upgrade
Pcv revamp kit
Arb front and rear
Whiteline walk kit
Turbo actuator
Coilovers
Nuespeed pulley kit
Iridium x colder spark plugs
o2 sensor spacer

Let me know you guy think? :)

You do not need revamp kit (i removed mine) turbo actuator, neuspeed pully kit (whatever that is?) Or an 02 spacer. An intercooler is optional but probably a good idea.

You do not have an rs4 fuel pressure valve on your list which is highly recommended for stage 2 plus.

I think everything else is spot on.

Oh and you dont upgrade the piston on the DV you just replace the whole thing. I use the GFB DV+ personally but others like the OEM rev D version or some even like the rev G version.

Hi mate

Thanks for that ill be cleaning up the list, how much would a rs4 fuel pressure valve set me back and is it a straight bolt on??

Around the 30 quid mark as far as I remember mate, it's one of the cheaper upgrades. Fitting is simple but its not easy! Getting at the fecking thing is the problem! My mechanic had to customise a regular spanner in order to get the valve screwed out.

F****k sake lol. I just hope i find it easy because im doing it all my self.

1 more thing i n3ed a bit of help on is my braking.

I have changed the pads and discs 3 tyms once with ebcs, and now with taronx racing brakes. But i think there is a problem bcuz my pedal is hard and has no travel and the stopping distance is no good wat do you think this could be?

Could old brake fluid cause this??

I need a s3 specialist to have a look at it bcuz no1 else can figure it out, is there anyone local to birmingham or west midlands i could go to ?? Thanks

Well brakes are still on my to do list but the TTRS kit is very popular. From the problems you are describing it sounds like an issue with your master cylinder but that said I am not a mechanic so that could be wrong!

Also I am just noticing that you have not got an upgraded clutch on your list? This is a must (unless you are automatic transmission).

Thanks for the heads up, Looks lyk ill be adding ttrs brakes to the list and uprated clutch system.

Just need to sort this braking issue sorted already paid £900 changing pads and discs 3 tyms cuz halfords and audi specialist saying the discs warped.

Which are the best website to search for parts, im currently pricing from awesomegti??

R-Tech Hinckley are your best bet

Stock plugs are best.
You don't need cold plugs.....even mine runs stock plugs.

As above most of your choices are fine.

Loba HPFP is probably the best although the Autotech is just as good but needs a bit of very clean self assembly.

CAI....Revo,ITG or AMD.

Clutch....personally would not recommend a paddle clutch.
Sachs organic plus DMF will work if you don't do drag runs.
If you need something unbreakable then the Spec Stg3+ with SMF will work.

When I was at APR Stage 2+ I had the following hardware;

Milltek TBE
Autotech HPFP
ITG Intake
Airtec Stage 2 FMIC

That was it and the car went like a dream!
I'm DSG so couldn't give you a verdict with the clutch side of things :(

If you plan on going past Stage 2+ then I'd look at getting a Custom Backbox area made for your Milltek as it seems to struggle with 380bhp+ (Well mine did) and also my Autotech HPFP struggled past Stage 2+ so I went for the APR HPFP

Mine made an easy 360bhp and 378ft lb, expect from 340bhp - 360bhp not all engines are the same

Also clutch will die in matter of weeks or days even lol so consider clutch

Gfb dv+
Silicone forge intercooler boost hoses
Revo cai (best one for tfsi imo)
Milltek tbe with sports cat
Autotech HPFP

Intercooler not necessary if you have the alloy pre facelift s3

The new s3's come with crappy plastic one which isnt as good

Didn't realise that about the intercoolers onto pre face lifts.... Sweet! mines a 2007

The facelift Intercooler is just as good as the pre-facelift mate, if not a little better as the plastic caps actually give better airflow

If you go APR Stage 2+ expect figures of around 370-380bhp and 400-410ftlbs

Liam, if apr is that much higher on figures than Revo, then why do others say that apr, gaic and Revo are all about the same? Weird?
If I get any lower than 360 next weekend, on the rolling road, I'll be switching to apr then!

From what I've seen APR has always been a more aggressive map, I'm surprised it isn't more widely used down South.

Also the new v3.4 Files APR are using for their Stage 2+ Maps are insane..

Another thing that's intriguing... Apr have updated there file yet Revo is still selling there old file which hasnt been updated for a long long time! Apparently, the Revo one is perfect? Lol
Makes you wonder if Revo have pulled the plug on any updates on the maps for the 8p

I'm by no means bashing Revo here, but I've seen a few tricks they do on the marketing front and I wasn't impressed with a lot of the little 'white lies" they come out with. That being said Revo are well-established and without a doubt one of the best tuners around for VAG/Ford Cars

So what would a good bhp and torque figure be for a stage 2+? I would imagine 350's would be low, 360's would be good, and 370's would be extremly good and a very strong engine?

My first dyno day will be this Saturday and then I'm heading to amd Essex for the group rolling road day/meet

At Stage 2+ my car made 380bhp and 388ftlbs but that was on an older file. The S3/R's on the newer file are making circa 380hp and circa 410ftlbs.

I'm not really too clued up on Revo or GIAC but maybe someone will reply and enlighten us on what kind of figures you'd be looking at with them :)

I do get the feeling that 8P development has stopped as far as Revo are concerned.

The Stg3/4 maps are several yrs old now as well.

Next weekend, I might do a rolling rolling on mine as it is then ask for a trial apr map to be put on there and then and see the difference?
Wonder if they could do that? Means it will over write my Revo map but I could get that put back on for say 60 qudish labour I would imagine... Only if the apr doesn't reslly. Make any difference?

ye exactly Alex, yet apr recently brought out a new revised map for the 8p which is supposed to be a lot better...

Lmao lads im new to all this and theres to much info there can we all agree on who is the best person to get my mods done by?, im lookin for the highest figures and the most aggressive maps, plus fitting of my hardware

Also alex took your advice and getting ttrs calipers fitted nex week, had to do this 1st because the brakes are playing up, ttshop said they will look at my master cylinder, btw what alloys shall I get cuz old alloys wont fit? I want the bbs ck but dont have a clue about offset..

You need to choose between a custom map,and off the shelf such as Revo and APR.
Also then which is nearest to you,and recommended.

Pick the best compromise of all of those.
The most aggressive feel to a map may not always mean the fastest car......for instance mine, now that it has a new brain etc, feels much less peaky, but is considerably faster, and pulls cleanly to 7500rpm with more torque at 7500rpm than it had at peak before.

You're bang on there. It's all about maintaining the torque curve

Would you recommend APR over Revo Laim??

Personally, yes. But many people prefer Revo although if you look at the power results between both of their maps it really speaks for itself.
