Awful economy on new engine

Is yours front wheel drive? Mine is doing the same in similar conditions.
Have you thought about getting a DTUK box? Tempted for bit more power but what will it do to the fuel consumption?
Yep, it's the FWD 184 TDI.

I'm not going down the modding route with this car as I'd rather keep the warranty intact!

Starting to see 60mpg on a regular basis now on my commute which is nice...

Check this out! Filled up in Wembley - hit the motorway to Birmingham. Played a little cat and mouse with a sexy blue AUDI RS6 (reg SSB 9, anyone know whose this is?) and this is the pic I took when I got home :)

TDI 184 Quattro S tronic - 42mpg according to computer...

Nawaid, dust your dash and turn economy mode off lol! :)

Brand new 1.4 cod. Did an 800 mile round trip over BH weekend- seeing friends in the north etc.

So there's 812 miles on the clock and I'm showing (DIS) 45.6 mpg. Happy with that- didn't drive it like granddad and car set in Auto mode. Given that the engine still needs to loosen I expect that to stick/improve.

At a guess, the fact that only one 'blob' of fuel has been used.

Guess that must be quite some event in an S3 :p Pretty normal to do Nottingham => London with none of the fuel lights going out for me!

You won't do quite as good with local journeys - upper 30's to start with. Mine has improved by 10% in 3K miles.

I have found my around town to be roughly 40 odd mpg. Of course if you cane it then you'll get lower. However, if you compare the 1.4 with something similar similar, then the fuel consumption is better than my 1.6 ecoboost engine. Which is where it should be...

On yesterday's drive which was mostly motorway I averaged 48,7 MPG.

This was in efficenty mode with the AC on and keeping it a steady 70. The car has now done 1400 miles.

On my old 2.0TDI B8 in it's lifetime of 100k miles it averaged 48mpg. This was all driving conditions. The Audi max quoted was 60 mpg. I only ever achieved this doing 50mph on a motorway!

48-51 mpg as shown on the dis on my run back from Suffolk saturday. Feel quite happy about that as it is higher than I got from my mondeo 2.0l diesel but lower that the 58mpg achieved with a 1.0l ecoboost fiesta on the same journey with a 5-speed gearbox...
