Well, due to the arrival of my son the .:R32 has gone. Not enough doors and to much of a ballache to put a baby seat in.

So back in December i picked a new 'Dad' project with enough doors. I'd been looking at B7 S4s but struggled to find a decent manual one and i had a Turbo itch that needed scratching. :D

I came across a B7 A4 DTM in Imola Yellow, it was a non runner and perfect for a few upgrades. A deal was done and i borrowed a recovery trailer from work and made the journey to Chorley (Preston) to pick it up. The car is very straight and in great condition, it just needs some TLC and a full detail to sort out the paint.

Anyways, i though it was about ****** time i started a build thread so here's a boat load of pics of the DTM looking sorry for itself.

perfect project car and doesnt look too bad in the pics. cant wait to see what it will look like in the end!

if you havent already, there is a DTM owners thread which will be handy, plenty of helpful guys on there as well

Looks well! I've got a good block Pistons and head for one of you need it!
I've rebuilt a lot of these now. One was a silver Dtm. I think these are the choice over the S4 all day long.

Good luck with the build :)

Nice project, noticed the original xenons have been swapped for crappy halogens as the headlamp washers are there for xenons

I almost bought this car myself as the yellow is rare as especially with 69000 miles on it.... But because the chain had snapped and I was considered fitting a CDL motor but having 2 dtms I couldnt afford with having another one. Even thou the dream would be to own them all just because I can lol.

But look forward to what you have planned.

Its in pretty good shape. It just needed saving imho. To rare to end up in the scrapyard. Thanks for the register tip. It should end up a nice car, i'm pretty particular about things (probably OCD lol). This was my last car:

love these like the subtle styling. been looking at them myself. isnt it missing the front splitter. bet they costly. also the sat nav. guessing it was a bargain price. why was it a none runner

Yeah. The front splitter is missing. It was a shame but I've managed to source another. I'll update the thread with details as its good for reference. It was cambelt/chain failure so the current engine is probably scrap.

Small world eh ? Its certainly rare, that was part of the attraction and it deserved saving. Funny you mention a CDL as I've just sorted out a BHZ to go in.

Will be keeping an eye on this.

There is a yellow mk4 colour concept that's popped up for sale at the end of my street which I've been thinking about as a side project.

Key word being "deserved saving" which I take my hat off to you as well as Craig to the people that help keep the DTM spirit going. I think a small part of my soul would die slowly knowing it got crushed.

Did you buy it from a salvage yard over in the Pennines? I bought an A6 from them. Good lads up theres

No Craig, came from some lads in Chorley who only sell non-runners and repossessions. Either way it was a ****** long way for me from Exeter.

Thanks mate.

Yeah I think it's the same place mate, the A6 had the same issue. I only know because I recognise the plate. In fact I'm sure gio text me it not long before it sold, but I still had the red A4 quattro in progress at the time

Soooooo.........yesterday this happened

After a night before at the rugby and feeling a little worse for wear we decided to crack on. Quite nice to work on tbh, front end and bumper come away easily and the exhaust nuts to the turbo hot side were nice and accessible. However there were a couple of loom connectors and heater hoses that were a pain (right up against the bulkhead with no room) to do. A few of the gearbox bell housing bolts were a bit fiddly but the after about 3 hours it was out.

Good progress

Any mods going to be chucked in whilst the front is off?

Great progress.:)

Has it been washed yet! lol, Iooks like it will clean up great.

The steering wheel, hand brake and gear knob look proper grubby too. Mine were the same when i had those. I removed them all from the car and washed them with 3 in 1 heavy duty cleaner degreaser and rinsed off in cold water, they came out looking like new.

Yes. Quite a bit. But I have a young son and juggling everything o haven't had chance to update Craig. I'll try and do it this weekend.
