Hi All
Car has just failed mot on broken rear coil spring, been quoted £325 to fix by the garage I took it to!
That's price to replace both springs as they said best to change both.
Am I being ripped off as thought that price was high? Car mot runs out Thursday so pretty urgent.
Thanks
Gary

Yes you're being ripped off, they take about 10mins a side to change on the 8P. Considering you can get a set of H&R springs for little over £100 I would be getting it done elsewhere.

I did think it was a bit steep! Guy reckoned it was a pig of a job to do hence the price!! Will get another quote & tell him to take a running jump!!

I'm not joking when i say it's about 10 mins a side to change btw!

Cheers for the heads up Darren, not able to do myself so need garage to do it. Will hopefully be able to find one at short notice.

Considered going for uprated springs. At that price you can get H&Rs all round fitted AND have some change.

where?? full set??

I'm having my rears replaced for £135 on Friday due to both being snapped

Wow that's expensive I've got a price for 40 each and 30 quid fitted. Audi wanted 480 for both rears fitted.... Not a chance.

Yep, the rear springs are independent from the shocks, so don't need breaking down and building back up. Literally just need to compress the spring, pop em out, compress the new ones and pop em in.

At least that's what a garage told me Lol

i paid £140 for both my new rear coil springs fitted on my 2010 audi a3 sportback but need a spring cap on drivers side has well for £7 this was a decent price for everything done including vat and labour cost, has was quoted £480 same job at audi dealers which is a rip off cost, they make there prices up ,stuff them rip off merchants main dealers,,,

I paid £180 for 2 Audi OE Sline springs from local dealer and fitted myself. Just need your wheel tools, trolley jack, axle stands. Lift rear of car, remove wheels, pull out spring with a bit of pressure down on the wheel hubs and spring lifts out. New ones should pop in them same method.
If on a budget, just replace the broken one but only if its an OE spring with the same paint dots.
