Just a quick question, is it worth installing a turbo in my 8L Sport and what is the complexity/drawbacks of doing this?

Cheers

erm... I assume its not a 1.8t already?

If its just a non turbo 1.8 20v then unless the car holds sentimental value or you are turning it into a track car with 3 million bhp then I would really not bother...

A3 1.8t's are plentiful and already sorted out of the factory... suspension and brakes will all be different not to mention the wiring, ECU, recoding of things etc that needs to be done...

The cost of insurance will be higher than just insuring a 1.8t because of the engine swap.... you would be better off finding a decent 1.8t and use that as a base as the cost and effort really isn't worth it

Problem is I've just forked out 550 for this one as a ''project''. Might just continue without a turbo....

the 1.8 normally aspirated engines fall into the same category as the 1.6's as a rule... they are a way of having a car until you can afford to insure a 1.8t...

Then you won't be able to insure a car with an engine conversion dude...

Cheers Tufty, Gonna see where this one takes me for now..... :)
