would you use these applicator pads on your pride and joy

Personally I wouldn't mate, some of the cheaper ones like this can be really rough foam. I use these but only for things like applying tyre dressing, cleaning the exhaust and applying sealants to the wheels and exhaust. I wouldn't touch my paint with them.
Best thing I've found for applying wax is an Autofinesse Wax Mate. Foam is lovely and soft plus it's shaped to be easy to hold and fit in wax tubs.

I used these to apply dodo juice wax to my black freshly polished swirl free bonnet last weekend and didn't have any problems with them. I haven't tried it myself but it might be worth doing the cd test like you would with a microfibre if you have any doubts.

I'd put money on it these are the same as some of the yellow ones that UK companies sell for 5/6 times the price.

flip !!! I ordered 24 yesterday ,luckily only a couple of quid wasted
Not a waste at all mate, like I said they have plenty of uses! Tyres, wheels, exhausts, trim I use them for applying stuff to all of that with no problems. The foam for me is just too rough and coarse to touch the paint with.
