DTM register / owners thread

After 2 years ive only gone and done it. Picking up my silver DTM this week.

Ill be wanting the change to the black grille (not by myself) and looking for used RS4 style alloys as the 2007 special edition black optics model.
Also looking to fit the factory sat nav unit so anyone selling id be very interested.

Its a remap at first so would welcome suggestions ....Revo? APR?

Im based in Berkshire. Have seen a sprint blue DTM in the Reading area.. anyone here?

Depends were abouts in Berkshire. It is either mine or Jaybv6 sprint blue DTM. If its lowered then its Jaybv6 if its not its potentially mine.

Thou Jaybv6 is based near Reading area. His is on page 7 of this thread post number #253.

Before mapping make sure the car is in good running order. And it depends what sort of map you want.

His plate starts with MC and mine is SN

As Gio says depends where in Reading you've seen the Sprint Blue DTM. Mine's dropped quite a bit and I'll normally be around the centre of Reading or out near Calcot/Theale way.

Hey guys, the car is low milage and in showroom condition as has been mainly garaged for 5 years and as for the map, torque at low rpm would more desirable than outright bhp though something like 255bhp and 290ft/lb would be nice. Asking too much for a remap?

Would a high flow cat be a useful addition? or like a cold air intake and be of little or no gain. (not looking start up debate on CAI's).
Oh and it was Asda in Lower Earley, Jaybv6 / Gio.

Don't think I've been to asda lower earley since I've had the DTM so may not have been me although I have been in the vicinity near the black boy pub and down the lower earley road on the way to the cinema.

It doesn't have 40000 miles on it by any chance?

Regarding the map. If that is what you wanting then APR is your better bet as Revo is more for people chasing numbers and more aggressive map.. I would say you asking too much from the map as each engine is different. 290 lbft from stage one is a lot to ask.

Highflow cats will make a difference in turbo spool time as the cats on our vehicles are prone to clogging up. But again usually with these sort of things if you willing to change with mechanical parts the best part to benefit from them is to have a map suited to the vehicle rather than a generic map. Cold air intake is a waste of time for stage 1 or 1.5 so dont bother just a good flat panel filter ie BMC then you set. The stock airbox is proven to around 300hp. So you got no issues there.

Ta Gio, so the plan is to get an 034Motorsport High Flow Catalytic Converter fitted. Any suggestions who could fit this and then get a custom map, again suggestions as to whom and where please.

Also I intend to upgrade the Symphony ll double din unit with an RNS-e. Silly question maybe but there is no 6 disc changer in the boot or glove box or does the Symphony ll take all six discs in the single slot and store them inside? I only ask as presumably the RNS-e needs something to load the latest sat nav disc's and also to play cd's so would i need to purchase the cd rom player or 6 disc changer as well as the RNS-e?

Yes i know its all take take take at the moment but i promise to add something to the forum very soon.
Thanks guys.
Toot.

Hey Toot,

We all here to help ea other in the end I don't see it as take take take if there was money involve then sure maybe it might be different but we all here as a free community. I am sure you have expertise in your own way that may come of help to someone.. I have a wealth of knowledge and i'm not stuck up to share it. Which is pretty much the best way to say it in the nicest way :)

Most 034 parts imported unless you can find someone selling a 2nd hand one or find a supplier in the UK which I know there is just cant remember off the top of my head. Thou a lot of the time it is cheaper to ship it across.

Any reasonable exhaust company or tuner company can install it for you. Hell you could even install it yourself there is not much too it only 7 or 8 bolts. 4 on the turbo and 3 on the flange.

As for the RNS-e unit. The unit screen folds down and has a dvd slot as well as 2 SD slots. The dvd slot is used to update the software or to install the latest maps. Which can be obtained multiple ways. So if you wanting to play CDs you either use the dvd/cd slot or what most people do is buy SD cards and fill those with MP3's. AS you can go a long way with 32GB SD card :) And the RNS-e unit is very easy to use when choosing music as you can select sub folders etc.

Just when looking to get a RNSE unit if possible try and get the one that has the black piano black finish on the face as that is the later one.

Or look at the first 2 buttons. if it says RADIO CD/TV thats the earlier ones the later ones say RADIO MEDIA

Just some food for thought.

Update - The MK2 can also have a grey matt finish.

Tx Gio,

So guys can you help?

If I go for the 034 Motorsports High Flow Cat it might be cheaper and quicker to order from the US.
Awesomegti are suggesting 4-5 weeks delivery!

After speaking with AMD they said there own remap software is written specifically for the car on the day rather than as i was told originally that is was sent off for a generic reflash? hmm not sure about this. Is the extra £200 for the APR map a better bet?

If i go for a K04 conversion, has anyone had this done and where? recommendations please. Im looking for a supply and fit price as i presumed the APR conversion price was fitted and was told this was supply only.

The newer RNS-E units as Gio said, has a media button rather than CD/TV. They also have higher resolution screens.
Part number 8E0035193A - Note the last three digits.. 193 is the later unit earlier units finish in 192.

you may struggle to supply and fit as a fair bit of it is custom work. boost pipes, decat flange, dv mount, fmic etc.

i've done a couple one on my dtm and one on another but it's far from straight forward, if you're definately going k04 then wait and do decat dp together with turbo as it will need chopping and fabbing up anyway.

here's my thread containing K04 conversion http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/my-dtm-build-story-so-far-hybrid-k04-custom-fmic.173281/

Time has come and I've put my silver DTM up for sale. Great car but looking to upgrade to a B8 S4, Audi offered a pants trade in so I'm selling IT myself. Will be sad to see it go.

I don't know if any of you b7 dmt owners are interested I've got a B7 sline with dtm wheels on it and I've bought new wheels so the dtm's are up for grabs if anyone is interested or know anyone that's interested let me know they will be available in the next couple of days . Cheers. Set of 5 alloys

Thats more like it...!

Can't say i was very happy with the stock performance when i purchased the vehicle so it was interesting to see the rolling road figures before the mods. With 41k on the clock it was running slightly better than Audi's published figures but having traded from a diesel BMW, i really missed that early slug of torque.

Now with an 034 Motorsports high flow cat, pipercross air filter, GFB DV+ and and APR remap running standard 95 octane unleaded, the smile has returned.

Apart from the figures... 259 hp @ 5780rpm / 280 lb/ft @ 2820rpm.... its the crispness of the delivery that you feel. Maybe its the DV+ but the car feels transformed.

I Know its not going to be to everyones taste but here's the latest pics of my DTM, a bit diff to 4 months ago.

I am looking for a Dtm currently if anyone wanting to or thinking of selling

Does anyone know the actual numbers of DTM made???

I know 250 total but does anyone know how many blue how many yellow etc etc etc

Well the only insight I can share on this is that.

I know the numbers claim to be 250 but according to records there were only 231 that were registered in the UK. So not sure what happened to the other 19. Thats a question I still dont have a answer for.

As for numbers I have been slowly getting information together gathering DTMs for a website "potentially" and with my current records I can share the following.

I have gathered:
35 sprint blue
8 yellow
21 black
29 silver

So total of 93 with 118 left to find. As there is only 203 on the road and 9 off the road

Thats all I can say.

But i was told once upon a time that there were 65 or 70 sprint blue DTMs made.

bought mine back :D

I was thinking of putting mine on hr springs but after seeing the pics on here it's not low enough for me so think I'll be going on coilovers.

Nic. With mine at the current level even driving slowly over speed humps I still scrape. I think the measurement is 6" from floor to front spoiler.

Depends how low you want to go

6" is high lol

My works van is only about 1.5" off the floor!!

The van should be on air later this year but the Audi is used on track quite a bit so don't really want it on air

Had a bit of a play at the weekend and got an RS4 'style' grille on before Early Edition

Fair enough. They looked like the ones he bought then never fitted for some reason.

They look awesome anyways

Staz, did you have to modify a new black grille or was it a complete unit off the shelf and if so..where can i get one?
