Hi all,

I know its been discussed within threads, but couldn't find any poll or dedicated thread. I've ordered my new s-line in brilliant black with privacy glass (still have week or so to change my mind). But every time I see a red on here, I wonder if I've made right choice. I know colour is subjective, but would love to hear peoples opinions and maybe some pics.

I currently have a brilliant black 8v se and think it looks well in se spec, but maybe red would look better in s-line ??....plus I wouldn't mind a change.

I'm also a bit worried that the red might be a bit 'flash'. I don't really want to draw too much attention, most of the time it'll prob a bit dirty anyhow so that mightn't be an issue.

Brilliant red :thumbs up:

I like change moi ;)

I was going to go for the red, but then looked at the bumpers!!! Like other makes they never get the colour to match, if you look closely you can see the different shades (in our place the main shell and body parts are sprayed in plant and the bumpers are brought in from elsewhere, plus plastic and metal take the paint differently)...not as noticeable on the black...hence why I went for it...plus solid black is the easiest colour to touch up if needed and that's from the paint shop guys who do new car touch ups before they even leave the factory.

Red does look very nice though, but for me I'd notice it every time I looked at the car as it's what I'm used to seeing, most people probably don't even see it! I've got mates who have been to look at cars and said that they are spotless, then I go with them and can see instantly where they have had paint work done.

Even more so on silver, look at the rear bumpers on both examples:

I seriously considered going Brilliant Black but the more pics i saw in red helped sway the decision :)

Defo Red over Black ....but it is personal preference at the end of the day ;-)

Go and see the 2 colours in the flesh :thumbs up:....might help you decide

Definitely Red! But I may be biased... Red looks sportier and an SLine is a sporty looking car. Here's a couple of pics of my Brilliant Red to help you decide ;). Mine isn't an SLine but you get the idea

Here's a saloon SLine as well (although that's misano red)

I'd go for red as black shows up every mark/scratch - my last car was a brilliant black TT and it showed everything!

Damn it - wish I went for red now. I'm stuck with Amalfi White :(

Initialy i was only looking at the 3 free options as the wife thought i'd spent enough already. Now that i have Brilliant Red i really like it (Aberdeen Audi only had Misano on its cars) and it means if i do get it wrapped in a couple of years i've not had the extra outlay.

I'd of gone red, but my cosworth's red and the wife's polo's red. So thought we better have a different colour, so Panther black with red parade interior, callipers.

Sounds like a nice combo, only seen the parade red on Aberdeen Audis Misano S3 HB demo. Really liked it but wanted Alcantara.

I know it is down to a personal preference but I cannot think of a reason why anyone would choose red or black..

thanks for all the feedback! After seeing some of these, I'm definitely leaning back towards red again...

It was free. There's a reason :)

I could've gone Glacier again and had A.S.S but decided B&O was a better option for me.

The RS4 Blue (not sure what the official name is) looks great on an S-Line A3 Sportback - even a normal A3.

ya thats my reason too. Have paid for colours in the past, but as I change every 2 yrs it's not really worth the money to me. Personally I like both these colours anyhow (although if money was no object I'd prob have dakota)

If we're talking money no object but just with regards to colour it would be yellow with black pack :)

Bet you can't guess which way I voted :)

I'd rather spend £500 on the interior. It's funny when people are weighing up whether it's worth spending extra ££ on optional extras they say things like: "is the b&o really £500 better than the ***?".

Well...is misano red really £500 better than brilliant red? My dealer couldn't even tell the difference...

....you are always cleaning the damn thing!

OK that doesn't roll off the tongue but it's true. I had a Phantom Black 8P and it was never clean and every little mark stood out like a sore thumb. I will never buy another black car.

I remember when I was about 15 going with my mum to order her TT and saying this in front of the salesman, needless to say didn't get the reaction it got at school.

I'm on team black here too but got Mythos for £200 so went for that.

Thought I'd throw my tuppence in... I had a Brill Red A4 and it looked great in low light, however when the sun shined it looked almost orange. I much prefer Misano and if I were to go with red again wouldn't be choosing brilliant red. It also marked like a b***h, lots of marring on the paint work.
Here are some pics of the car to let you choose:

Just to throw a spanner in the works

A few weeks a go my local Audi dealer had a glacier white S3 SB in with the parade red interior and red calipers. Really worked for me

If my old A4, which I'd had for 5 1/2 years, hadn't been ibis white I could have been tempted for this combo for my part deux, but I wanted a change TBH

That's really rough, can really tell there. Looks pretty poor to be honest.
