So I picked up some service parts for my pd170, I picked up the quantum platinum thinking that's the one I normally get.... I now realise it's the gold long life I normally get which is 507....will I be OK putting the platinum 505 in?

No then, I believe the 507 is low ash stuff.

Yea the 507 is the low ash but was wondering if anyone had put 505 in theirs without any issues

I'd be putting the recommended oil in it as thats whats made for the DPF equipped cars.

No, because the 505 isn't low ash. 505.01 is for PD engines but 505.00 isn't.

The anti wear additive metals in 505.01 harm/ clog the dpf , change for 507.00 .

505.01 is for PD's but not with a DPF. Basically you need 507.00

Yes I know this.... I'm not convinced main dealers use 507 when they should

I would agree with you there, hence why I looked into it and started supplying my own oil!

I'm more ****** off coz I got it in London and live in Blackpool and won't be next week till I can swap it

I thought the difference is one is long life and the other is for fixed service intervals.

The oil is the same for fixed and LL intervals. Difference is non-DPF and DPF cars.

Sell it to a local member or get them to get your oil and swap over?
