Hi guys, I need a replacement turbo fairly soon as mine it's on its way out could someone tell me what they think I should do? Essex turbos will returb it for £425, there's cheap (I also assume crappy) one on ebay for around £160-200 ish and then there's this one (ebay item number 291123769514) for £370 ish I'm at a loss as I really cant afford a new one (been qouted between £750-900ish I have arranged the fitting at a local garage they will fot it for £300 and I have to supply the turbo? Does this seem right? Think its a 7hour job so seems good to me! Thanks for your help! Jon

or if anyone else has any other ideas thats would also be cool! Forgot to mention a few people have said to me dont touch Essex turbos with a barge pole? Anyone had any experience of this? Thanks

just rang around loads of places for a rebuild and replacement but when I mention its remapped they tell me a I need a hybrid or an updated bearing otherwise it will happen again I this correct?

Lol... you don't "need" a hybrid if you have a remap... they are talking cobblers... hybrids require further mapping and most likely new injectors not to mention the normal pre-requisite parts list to get the best from it like FMIC, 3" DP etc...anyone telling you otherwise is clueless...

Uprated bearing is something to consider though

this guy ^^^^^^^^^

and only him!!!!!
i had my turbo rebuilt just over a year ago by some online company.
had it removed as im going hybrid (thanks dan)
there is a stupid amount of play in all directions and the hotside is cracked to hell!!!
1 year or so after the "rebuild"

Yeah it looks like there website is down at the moment, have a search for them on facebook?

If we are talking KO4..

I can do brand new oem K04-023 for 750.00 euro inc vat (£555.00 inc vat)or if possible recondition yours using genuine parts and add a genuine uprated bearing (price on inspection). I also could offer to upgrade your original turbo if K04-023 to 300+hp spec using again only Genuine parts.

See here for upgrade details : http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...harger-1-8t-20v-s3-tt-leon-k04-hybrid.234746/

Beach buggy turbo being delivered tomorrow! Well excited! It has a billet
compressor, uprated bearings and apparently I'm the first to have the new inlet design! Feel quite proud! Being fitted next Monday so should all be done! Just need to sort the knocking noise now!

hi guys need some advice asap the audi is just about to have its new beach buggy turbo fitted and the guy fitting has just called me and said that theres a bit of play in it and he cant guarantee that it wont break or make a noise did I still want him to fit it? So I said yea because the guy at beach buggy Turbos said there was a bit of play? Ive tried calling him but cant get through can someone reassure me that getting it fitted is a good idea?

Always will be slight play as there is no oil pressure in the turbo.. Once the car is up and running and you follow the install guide it will be fine!

These are floating bearing turbos that rely on oil , with out it they have movement, not much but a little otherwise they would seize!

Turbo was balanced and run way above normal operating speeds so it'll be fine..
