oh not that ****** mono pur discussion again.... Don't worry I'm not here to ask if mono.pur makes your car go faster!!!

I have looked for the answer to this but I cannot find it. What is mono.pur, I mean I know what it is but why not call it extended leather or something, I am pretty sure people don't have a clue what the hell it is what does it stand for?
 
It's a imitation leather that has a rubber texture to it.

Thank you all, why they can't offer actual leather I will never know!!!!!
 
It's 4 bits of material audi have made to replicate leather with stiching on it either side of gear stick and on both doors.
 
There are plenty of cows, just not very many with high quality stitching!!

Funny thing is you could probably get them trimmed in real leather for similar cost

It was a genuine question as I did not know what it was made of. May as well lock it as not much is allowed to be discussed around here, this section is getting more like google search bar!!!!!

Come on mate, there are loads of threads showing and explaining what mono.pur is or is it a wind up...

No there aren't! If I read the OP correctly he wants to know what the hell mono.pur actually is. All we have is everyone saying it's a rubbery / plasticy / synthetic leather thing but that's not really an answer.

I'm actually interested to know what it is and why it's used in preference to leather (harder wearing?). Seeing pictures of it and just describing what you see with your eyes doesn't really answer the question.

Does anyone know what it means and why Audi called it that?
 
I had a quick look on google, it's possible the PUR bit is in relation to Polyeurothane Foam which is abbreviated to PUR - so could be the soft backing to the material. Apparently 'mono' is used in car industry to describe items made from only one material. I did see a few things about giving Polyeurothane different textured finishes - so maybe 'mono.pur' is just a technical way of saying 'plush looking padded material'.

Joking aside I think mono purrrrrr is just driving everyone nuts in here and making people a little bit crazy.

I only asked a question.....god this place sometimes is like a playground and thank you A3_Phil yes it was just a question. Now the god in charge today please lock it before we are allowed to actually have a chat.
