Hi all,

I know there are a number of posts on this forum with a similar headline 'ABS and Traction control warning lights' but I'd like to run my current thoughts by a few of you guys.

VDCS told me:
00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Right (G44)
008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

The warning lights used to come-on at about 60 mph, so following a tutorial on here I took off the wheel, disk, etc and replaced the wheel speed sensor using this part:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171512084245

Observations:

1. The OLD sensor had scoring marks on the head. It had been touching the hub as it rotated and had scored the nylon head. Not excessively - is this normal?
2. The NEW sensor (its not an OEM) felt a little too long, and would probably wear at first as the hub rotated - I did confirm engine code 'BKD' with the seller.

So following replacement I went to test the car and the warning light returned at 10 mph (instead of 60mph). It does go on and off as you drive around, but mostly illuminated.

So..........that's where we are.

As a possible point of interest, please see my post below from 2012 which demonstrates a vibration noise the car has been making on-and-off the past 40000 miles! (I've since changed the Dual Mass Flywheel to it didn't improve)

http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...rating-and-suspension-underload-video.170441/

I'd say the noise (40k later) is beginning to get worse, more often then not on a right-hand turn - such as a roundabout.

I'm beginning to think the two separate issues might be linked. Perhaps the hub (rear right) has excessive movement making the vibration, which is induced during a right hand turn as the weight of the car shifts to the front left wheel. The movement in the hub is then rubbing against the wheel speed sensor head, creating the secondary issue 40000 miles later.........

What are your thoughts?

1. Do old sensors usually having visible wear marks from rubbing against the hub?
2. Can new sensors sometimes feel a little too long (approx 2mm) when you inset them?
3. Can movement in a hub make a similar noise to when is heard in the video, then (interesting) last 40000 miles before its a major issue?

Everything might be totally unrelated, it would be helpful to hear some experienced views, and maybe someone's come across a similar issue in the past.

Thanks,
Tom

Fit a genuine sensor and take it from there, with copied parts they're not made to the same specification/quality/tolerances.

replace the rear hub/bearing ***, look at where the hub runs inline with the sensor, any cracking in that ring will cause this code
