After a bit of advice please. Am a bit out of touch with selling cars privately and which website is best to use these days - i always used Autotrader in the past with 100% success but last time was 5 years ago and not sure if ebay or PistonHeads is now better. Which would you look at if you were a serious buyer for an 8P 2010 59 plate S3 sportback, with just 1 owner, FASH, 45,000 miles and very good condition (hence not a wreck or a total bargain i'm trying to get rid of which some websites suit better?).

Any advice much appreciated before I advertise for £15,750

Thanks
Jaime

First off you'll probably get a little more than £15750 id advertise at 16250, I've just sold my s-tronic 09 with 38k for £16200. Secondly i sold my S3 to someone who registered to the forum to buy it so it saved a bunch on ad costs etc! Try it for a week or so on here then use eBay, i certainly look at all 3 when I'm looking, not so much piston heads though, not sure why i think its the site layout isn't the easiest to use, auto trader is very expensive and would certainly be my last resort to be honest!

Thanks guys - good advice. Decided on £15,750 mainly becaause it now needs its 5 year service so cambelt and water pump which will cost new owner £700 (I think??) so compensating for that. Or am i being too generous! Basically i dont want to spend the money on that service in case the car does not sell privately in which case when it goes for Part Ex against the new S3 it's wasted money!! All advice welcome - Dave - do you mean i should list it for sale on this forum? many thanks.

Give it a try the cambelt and pump would be about £450ish from most indy dealers or Audi if you can get them to price match. I did all the servicing before sale which i think made a massive difference so yeah i see where your coming from, what colour is it? Ive been told the bold colours fetch the most money, white blue, orange maybe red and black too, i had a silver one, but i think it looked ace and really understated, I've got a white BE Tdi now so ill be expecting all the ****** signs to re appear lol! Where are you located mate, i know of a few specialist dealers around here which would offer you good money. Audi wont get near the right money as they won't sell anything beyond a few years old as audi uk charge the dealers a fortune for the used car warranty (thats what they told me anyway!)

List your car on the forums first jimbo :) also try fb ..

Sprint Blue which I love. Sepang on the next one. Am in Sheffield. Audi will give me £15,000 on px in March but I know it's worth more than that and would prefer somebody gets the benefit from it without paying the dealer apt more for it after px. TDi eh - the logical choice compared to s3 fuel costs although I get around 33mpg...still got 80% of original discs and pads to prove it!

Will try forums thanks for the tip guys. Just photographed original sale invoice and all paperwork so can post up this weekend

A bit of a long shot, but as you live in Sheffield these chaps may be worth a call?
http://www.belgravemotors.co.uk/

I was looking for a TT for my good lady a couple of months ago, and saw these folk dealt with a range of not so, through to nearly new audi's and other (as they call it) prestige cars. In the end I didn't go to see them, so cannot vouch for whether they would even be interested / are decent to deal with - an old work colleague was selling his car so we are buying that on March 1; as opposed to any worries about dealing with them. But if I was in your situation, I'd give them a call, so thought I'd share.

Thanks Mr.C I will look them up on the net. Cheers

I bought my previous Audi from Belgrave^

When I was hunting for my S3 I was hoping they had one in as I would have fetched it from them.

Obviously iv never sold a car to them, but I would deffo give them a call :thumbs up:

SSC might be able to give you a good price, but bearing in mind i phoned about my S3 and was told twice by some woman that i would get a call back.. i never did!

^ exact same i got when i was enquiring about buying a motor from them, put me off and i bought my car from somewhere else.

audi will give you £15k and you wanna sell private for £15750? granted £750 is a decent enough wedge to lose out on but you'll have no hassle at all with PXing and no comeback

if you do go private, autotrader hands down

Did you get anywhere with Belgrave?

I've just received a text from Wakefield Audi. We all know the dealers are full of allsorts, so get pinches of salt at the ready. But it might be worth a call?
It says 'Up to 60k miles and under 5 years old. Best prices paid. Call Danny at Wakefield Audi on 07974 303826'. As I have never bought anything from Wakefield Audi; had a service or two 4 or 5 years ago and I'm maybe on a mailing list, then for them to blind text me, they aren't overly bothered with the number being out there.

Thanks, guess I enjoy the hunt for a buyer. Also a bit tight with the cash!!

thanks Mr C, I'll try them out

I am in the same situation however I do think that your PX quote from Audi is very good. Just out of interest and for the sake of price comparison have you looked at webuyanycar? They offered me £1180 more than Audi but I think I can get more selling privately. Personally I would use autotrader to get the most money. I find ebay better for cheaper cars and I wouldn't consider pistonheads as I never look there myself despite going on their forum occasionally.

Hi, yeah we buy any car offered me about £500 less. To be honest the Audi offer is good especially as they have guaranteed that sum for whenever the new one arrives. It's too good to px though!!

Just being nosey to see what Wakefield Audi, and or Belgrave Motors offered, if at all? I'm guessing the Wakefield text was a means to get you to buy from them, so that might have put them off?

Hi, haven't contacted them yet, should hear today whether build week 7 confirmed for the new car in which case I can press forwards with the sale....

You have a great looking car. If we were not buying a tt black edition ths week for my good lady then i would have been tempted. How has the attempt to sell gone? I saw it on ebay so I guess a few timewasters?!
