I spotted a huge problem with your supplies - you've ran out of beer! That's got to be a critical component of this whole project!!!! :jester:

Lol, I'll be needing a beer after this weekend ;-)

That's bcs exhaust does look nice may have to get one for the rs :thumbs up:

Well that was a full on mission! Put the first spanner on the car at 830am yesterday and finished up at 130am this morning!
We did the clutch which actually wasn't too bad! All quite straightforward but lots of work! We took the subframe off dropped the propshaft remove the transfer box and then the gearbox. The old clutch was completely dead! Melted burnt clutch plate, blueing on both the pressure plate and fly wheel. Also lots of play and slop in the dual mass. So more than happy that a decided to do the clutch and take the plunge! Even if I was staying at Stage 1 power this only had a short while left it it!
With the gearbox out and subframe we decided to do the Thermostat and RS4 fuel valve and these two jobs were a complete PITA! I would say it easily too 4 hours to do these two parts! Whether this was down too us being abit knackered I don't know but it was fidley and there was a massive amount of small parts and brackets to be removed in order to get at the parts :-(
We then bolted on the new dual mass and clutch put the gearbox and transfer box back in and new powervalve downpipe along with the subframe and propshaft.
The new powervalve system was put in hung in place and all the oils refilled! This was also a pain and as others have said buy a oil filler kit, I hadn't and it was a painfully slow job to fill the rear diff :-(. The last part was to bleed the clutch and this was another pain! Mainly down to the basket in the header tank! the tank looks full but in actual fact it's only the basket. So we kept introducing new air in the system. Once we had removed the basket it bled quite easily.

The clutch atm fells quite springy and I would say 25% stiffer, this may change as it beds in I guess.

Then came the first hear of the powervalve and it's EPIC does exactly what I wanted! Silent under low load and unleashes gods thunder under full throttle! I love it! It's actually a different sound to what I expected, it's a deep harsh powerful sound rather that raspy, I think it's perfect

I didn't take hardly any pictures of our work, we were just too engrossed and kept forgetting. But here are a few!

Good result mate.
I done my clutch on my own and as you say it's not difficult just lots of work!
The clutch feel will change after its bedded in.
I'd go as far to say mines almost oem feel now.
Good work and take it easy for a few hundred miles to bed in and lose the small judder it'll have just now.

What's the gearbox sitting on the pallet?
Nothing to do with your car is it?
Nothing to do with the S3 mate, we were in my friends garage. That's a paying customers gearbox lol ;-)

Tiny bit of judder and the pedal a little springy but it's already better than at the start and only done 40 mile ;-) will keep you updated ;-)

So what do we do after stripping the car to pieces and rebuilding it all in 18hrs? Go on a 238mile round trip to make sure she doesn't break that's what! And get dragged into a play with a new S3....

It didn't miss a beat and sounds SAVAGE!

I tried to take it easy with mine for the first 500 miles.
When your trying to go easy it seems everyone wants to play!
I done 300 miles then went 2+ and the rest was history.
The powervalve system is very addictive and you think it sounds good in the car, get someone to do a drive by

Glad you you got this sorted in the end! Did you fit the collar on the power valve actuator to have it partially open on idle?

Leshkin, im not that impressed with the sound on that tbh? I remember hearing it on a white one on the ramps and sounded a lot better!
Is yours resonated? decat? etc?
I know its horses for courses and what I like... someone else may hate so just thought id ask the question on which system it is.
No offence was intended here bud btw.

Thanks.

None taken mate - videos dont do it justice. It sounds much better in person tbh.

Off boost, its a resonated system with sport cat. When its on boost, the valve opens and allows the gas to bypass the rear silencer and it essentially becomes non-res system. I love it because it gives you a dual use setup as well as complete lack of drone at motorway speeds.

My wife called me today saying she was pleased because it's quieter off boost that the standard system lol. It's a real jackle and Hyde system :-D

I think it went very well.

The Go Pro that disappeared from the back of the car on the test drive would back that up.
