Staggering.

Go see a solicitor as you shouldn't be driving about in a Yaris. Its the garages fault and they have to put you back in the same position you were beforehand. That includes a like for like courtesy car whilst they/their insurers are sorting things out.

I had same thing happen to me a good few year ago

I didn't even go to my insurance I got a no win no fee they claimed from the garage

I got every penny and a very good courtesy car for 3 month your insurance will put preminum up next year up a bit.

and if you haven't told the insurance all the extras you have added then you wont get a penny back for them.

also they can refuse to pay you our for not declaring the mods you have fitted.

so best bet is go straight to the garages insurance they cant trade without any.
 
I contacted mine to tell them it'd been stolen, but they were sorting it through their insurance, my insurance was swiftly cancelled
 
but you now have a claim against your name

even tho its non fault you need to declare for the next 5 years.
 
have you cancelled your insurance or the claim ?
 
I think the garage’s insurance should cover you. I’m fully comp but insurance doesn’t cover me to drive other peoples vehicles. I’ve had loan cars in the past, both through insurance and garages and I’ve been covered by them.


Might be worth checking with the garage... if you can bring yourself to talk to them again that is!
 
My god unlucky mate. Now that I think about it, a week ago or so, the gf dropped the car off at a garage we never used before to have work done. I went to pick it up, all I said was 'I here to pick up the Audi' they got the paperwork and keys. I paid and drove off. Hardly any questions asked...

I was fully paid up and they tried to cancel mine
so I just swapped cars and put a stand by on cover.
 
It's weird that they don't keep track on IDs when you hand over the car and take it back. There should be some kind of an ID record, I think you can even sue them on court for this AND for having your car stolen by their mistake.
 
It might end up with that yet. For the 3rd time this week my insurance are under the impression I'm claimingon y insurance, now they want me to send all car documents and my spare key.
 
Don't send anything to them, that basically gives up ownership of the vehicle.. Just keep fighting the garage back mate
 
Yeah me and the garage are just ignoring my insurance. Doesn't sound like their insurance will pay up, settling privately now hopefully. She didn't look happy when I asked for 4k to replace it, not including the optional extras I added
 
I saw this on Facebook other day, not seen it on my travels around bradford though :( hope you get it sorted bud!
 
I have news. Got it back today, was found last night, mostly undamaged, of course they've swiped my stereo, sub and iPod

Glad to hear you got it back. The garage owners can probably stop sweating now too. Shame about the audio gear. Did you have aftermarket sterio/sub or audi?

Good news mate. Garage should compensate for stolen gear ... Good will gesture. They need to tighten up there procedure hand over procedure too
 
You need to sue the garage for the losses from the car including its subsequent loss of resale value if they don't give you much back

They're solely responsible for their serious negligence

I'd be interested to know what they've said about it all
