Hi all in Oz ive been told its impossible to have my 2010 A3 2L Tdi installed with a reversing camera,

i have retro fitted The latest RNSE LED Screen and audi AMI, how ever i cant find a reverse camera kit,
before i fitted the AMI i had an after market reverse camera and a module with Rca on it and i could use the camera but only from
selecting it from the media button and then the input,,

Genuine Audi RNS-E Highline Reverse Camera with Guidelines Supply Fit

the above link claims they have a kit he can post me, and that will work on my rnse, with my ami and even work when i select R and even give me the lines that move when you move your steering wheel,
if someone can help me out who has fitted this or have an option for me, im willing to go with it, but i need to keep my audi ami and my rnse, i dont even mind if i have to select the input to get it to work, but want them to all work,

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE :)

Hi,

i do have an OEM rvc working with my mk2 radio, all parts bought on the ebay ;)

It can be done, you need the R8 reverse camera module along with wiring and the genuine Audi reverse camera and A6 camera holder. all that combined with the correct coding should get it working.

Hi guys great to hear: now would it be possible to grab those part numbers or dose anyone know where i can get the kit together apart from the link i supplied?

Also guys is it possible to have the AMi still wired up with the camera? Vsantos69 have you got it all connected with AMI?
thanks heaps for the help, this is a mod ive always wanted to achieve.

Hey guys where do i order these parts at a good price? and what coding do i need?
PLEASE:)

Thank you Vsantos69

Here you have:
Here are the total parts list:

Audi:
4L0 980 551 - Rear View Camera
4L0 827 574 3F2 - Door handle
4L0 980 553 - Camera retaining clip
N 909 159 01 - Tapping Screw
420 910 441 - reverse camera module

You can find more info here: Rear view camera retrofit | Audi Forum

And here you have some search ;)

4L0 980 551 | eBay

The camera retaining clip and tapping screw you can buy it at your audi dealer because they are cheap. You need further the cable to switch on all this, i bought it on kufatec site's. About the reverse camera module i didn't find any at ebay right now but with patience it will appears.

Of course you should have anyone to ensemble all this :D, or if you think you can manage it, go ahead ;)

I'm interested in this.

I have AMI (retrofitted) and MK2 193 LED RNSE (also retrofitted).

Chris, did you ever find a solution for keeping the AMI and genuine RVC?

bought kit from vwcruise, its expensive as sin, has all the stuff, and he makes install instructions to your car and what you have, so less headache.

Can this set up be fitted to a 3 door 8P or only sportback 8P?

I have found a couple of different OEM RVC modules, one if from an A5, does anyone know if that will provide me with the trajectory lines or if this is only possible from the R8 module? (i'm having trouble locating an R8 moduel...)

Can work on a 3dr too. You definitely need the R8 module for the RNSE, no OEM alternatives. Part number begins 420.

Do a search on here for 'rvc' and you'll find it.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll try and track down an R8 module from somewhere :)

You 2 chances. One is find this 420 910 441 - reverse camera module but you will not have the optical parking system (OPS). You you want this one you will need the 420 910 441 A however i never saw one being sold on ebay.

The OPS does this:

Sorry by the bad video but haven't done one better yet :D and, by the way, the only thing that's missing to all working perfectly is the calibration of the camera that i'll go to an audi dealer to work it out...

Thanks for the confirmation :)
I don't have OPS so i'll keep a close eye out for a 420 910 441 module, how much should i expect to pay?
I have read in several places that the module is around 200EUR from Audi...

the 420 910 441 A cost to me 265 € and it wasn't at an local audi dealer. I've selled the one without letter in the end at ebay by 155 € including dilevering cost.

One thing that doesn't work at the 420 910 441 (the one with the A at the end have it all working) is the 2nd parking function (you can see it at the righ upper corner in thd radio but it doesn't do anything). I can show it to you if you want (need to make another video).

Regards.

What is the second parking function? Remember, i do not have OPS :(

Would you mind sharing the video please :)

I have managed to source a RVC camera module :) ... could someone confirm if "4L0 827 574 3F2" is the correct part needed for a 3 door A3 8P3 please?

Oh and also the loom required from Kufatec, is it Wireing Harness rearview camera Audi A3 8P-39389

Does it connect the camera to the RVC module and then to the RNS-E?

No. That's for MMI Most - you need the r8 module 420 etc

Sorry, maybe my post wasn't very clear; i have purchased a 420 910 441 A (RVC Module) but need to get the door handle / camera holder, will 4L0 827 574 3F2 fit my 3 door or will it only fit a sportback?

I now have my possession RVC Module '420 910 441 A' but need to order the door handle / camera holder - Could someone please please confirm if handle with part number '4L0 827 574 3F2' will fit my 3 door 8P3?

Hello, sorry not have replied yet.

And yes, that is the correct part number, i install it in mine 3 doors 8P :D It's the same for sportback or 3 door 8P.

This is the harness correct Kufatec R8 Harness, i bought it to retrofit the RVC, PDC and RVC module.

Small update: RVC module is connected, but could someone confirm if my coding is correct because my RNS-E is not switching to the RVC when the reverse gear is selected:

RNS-E 193G: (Bose, BT, MFSW, RVC, AMI)
Coding: 0709725 (I had to code as R8 to be able to enable RVC in CH4 below)
Adaption: CH4 = Value 2

RVC Module:
Coding: 1000012

RVC Module enabled in CAN gateway, I am able to communicate and view values when reverse gear is selected etc)

Is there a way of manually switching to the RVC so I can verify that it is actually working? A secret combination of button holding maybe....?

I didn't answer you yet because i don't remenber my sttings on the radio and rvc module. I remenber that i had to make the radio re-start to the camera work on pushing radio+???(some other button of the rns-e that i don't remenber) and then it worked fine.

When the radio doesn't switch with the reverse gear, i think it shows the image on the media button.

Try in the adaptation, module 37, configurate to lambo and see if it works.

I'll try to see my configuration to put it here...

UPDATE: Okay, so I got this working on my 2009 A3 eventually, I’ll share the information that I collected during my install:

Vehicle Details:
2009 A3 2.0 TDi S Line DSG CBBB 3 Door
Retro Fitted RNS-E, AMI, BT
8P0 035 193 G (RNS-E MY2012)
1K0 907 951 H16 (Factory fitted CAN Gateway w/ RVC support)

Parts Purchased / Required:
VCDS w/ Licensed Cable
1 x Kufatec RVC A3/R8 Harness: Wireing Harness rearview camera Audi A3 8P-39389
1 x Fakra Type Z 200CM extension cable (eBay)
1 x Fakra Type Z Male Connector (eBay)
1 x Fakra Type Z Female Connector (eBay)

1 x 4L0 980 551 (Rear View Camera)
1 x 4L0 827 574 3F2 (Door handle for 5DR & 3DR models)
1 x 4L0 980 553 (Camera retaining clip)
1 x N 909 159 01 (Camera retaining Screw)
1 x 420 910 441 A (Reverse Camera Module with OPS) (I plan on retrofitting OPS later....)
OR
1 x 420 910 441 (Reverse Camera Module without OPS)

Coding:

8P0 035 193 G (RNS-E 193G): (Bose, BT, MFSW, RVC, AMI, R8)
Coding: 0709725 (I had to code as R8 to be able to enable RVC in CH4 below)
Adaption: CH4 = Value 3
RVC Module: (Audi, RNS-E, Standard Height Camera)
Coding: 1000012

Notes:
- Initially I had issues with the RNS-E not switching to the RVC when reverse gear was engaged, I got round this by changing the adaption of Channel 4 on the RNS-E to Value 3.
- RVC Module logs fault '03006 - Back-up Camera System not calibrated', this doesn't prevent the camera from working and the camera seems to be set up perfectly out of the box for an A3.
- The Kufatec loom is roughly 150cm too short for RHD vehicles and comes with an incorrect Fakra connector for the Reverse Camera (4L0 980 551). I got round this issue by purchasing a Fakra extension cable with Fakra Type Z connectors, plus additional Male and Female Fakra Type Z connectors and extending the power cable for the Camera.
Kufatec offered practically zero support for the incorrect coding in their documentation, harness being too short and incorrect Fakra connectors, I was far from impressed with their aftersales support.

how much was a total cost for the parts?

how much was a total cost for the parts?

I'll have a dig through my receipts, although I'm afraid that total cost of this little project will scare me :puke2:

The most expensive part is the RVC module, if you can source this via eBay, you will save $$$.

ok sorry then no need to sum the cost.
would love this cool mod but since i've got parking aid no need for that :D

Hello. I ordered all the parts from the list. The complete handle, camera and module have arrived, now I'm just waiting for the cable.

I have one question regarding "- RVC Module logs fault '03006 - Back-up Camera System not calibrated', this doesn't prevent the camera from working and the camera seems to be set up perfectly out of the box for an A3."

Have you calibrated the camera?

Hello again. Thank you for your answer. I'm also interested in this.

I have AMI factory fitted and RNSE 193G factory fitted
If I am doing the RVC retrofit will this affect AMI somehow?

i just bought a cheap china camera with loom and a £30 intyerface that connects to the wiring on the rnse ,it also senses reverse through the can bus signal so auto switches camera when reverse is selected , also has reverse lines as well

Hi,
I was wondering if you could please help me out with my RVC install.
I already bought and fitted all the needed parts (with the R8 module part number 420 910 441).
my problem is that when I change my coding in channel 4 at the adaptation to 3 the RNS-E does not switch to the RVC image(tried also to code the rnse to R8 instead of a3 and it made no difference). and I get the following fault code

originally I bought this wiring loom for the camera:
http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6324085281.html?orderId=64443234450906

but when I received it I notice that it is not the same connector as the RNS-E 32 pin connector, so I modified it according to these two diagrams:

the diagram of the of a golf/passat RVC(the ones in the red were present in the wiring loom that I received)

in general I connected all the wiring in the R8 diagram except for the one from t54a/25 to t32f/14. its the same wire as the yellow/black wire in the passat diagram, which was not present in the loom I received, also according to the pin description on the RNSE it is "SHEILD GND". so I doubt that it is causing the problem for me, I am quit sure that it is only related to the image quality which is great already.

I also tried yesterday to see if my friend's 193G RNS-E will work as should but it also gave me the same fault code of "Functionality limited due to Communications Disruption"

this is an auto scan of my car that I ran today :

also I retrofited to my car an OPS system from VW
this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261384288370?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

and I did not manage to get the OPS to work in my RNS-E unit(but I am not concerned about that right now and I don't think it is causing any problem with the RVC install).

Thanks in advance for all the help, I am out of ideas at the moment :(

I am thinking of connecting the rear view camera power cable from the R8 module to the RNSE lamborghini mode RVC signal, this way the function will work almost the same as it should, but I still would like to try and get everything work properly.
