Hey guys, just wondering what the highest mileage b5 is out there! I think I have the record for the original engine and trans. I'm sitting at 430,505 as of yesterday? Anyone higher then that?

Yes screwed the gearbox 2 years ago... so had another fitted... but engine (touch wood) has been a dream.... anything else has been either service or MOT stuff.. hope this year will be kind to me...lol... just had front lower control arms to do last time,,

DH...

175,300 as of yesterday. Original engine, box, clutch and turbo. 100,000 with me and a remap, several track days. Not the highest mileage but she's been made to work for her keep

yes mines a 99.5 2.8 v6 quattro. Just hit 431,000 today. Engine still runs mint, but exhaust is getting loud, and transmission is starting to act up a lil. For instance ill stop at a light, get ready to go and 20% of the time ill hit gas and rpm raises to 2500rpm then drops into first and goes. Its weird but its been like this for two months and no engine lights!
Also heres a pic of her

Didn't realise you were in Ontario, Canada, Proctor. Your mileage, I take it this is in kilometres not miles? If so that's 267k miles. Still impressive.

The headlights look like they're suffering from hazing which is easily fixed with polishing compound, etc.

Yes im going to get them polished, does anyone have a link to top off or drain and fill auto tranny fluid? It seems to lag and act weird now like its low on fluid

226,567 or along those lines here

Audi B5 1.9TDi Quattro Avant

Wow! You got me beat haha! Or is that kms B5Nut

not an Audi but my old 110bhp Passat had 300k on it when I sold it still with its original engine.
It went away and got used for 2 years as a private hire for airport runs. when she retired from service it had just shy of 500k on it.
its still in daily use now with a private plate on it but is just used as a work horse

I still regret selling it to buy a 2003 Skoda Octavia

The best luck I ever had was my 1989 Mercedes Benz 300te estate wagon when I got rid of it it was still running mint and had 520,000+ on it!

Wow that's pretty impressive! Original clutch?

Not sure, I've done around 100K in the car and I've not changed it.

170k on my 1.8T, still the same everything but timing chain is trying to escape when it's warm

Mine has 173,215 miles 1.8T sport AEB engine, never had major engine work,
never broke down, use every day to work and some weekend trips.
Use only good oil, but now use 10w 40 semi syn, used to use fully syn, but its getting a bit old now like me.

Why would you put poorer oil in when it gets old?

Stick to 5w40 fully synthetic. It deals better with the heat from the turbo.

Hi, I changed to Semi syn as I found seemed to have more oil leaks with fully syn oil.
I am still loosing or burning oil, topping up more often now. car runs fine, but not sure where the oil goes.

5w40 is exactly the same thickness when hot as 10w40. Neither oil will leak more readily than the other.

Its likely just burning it, i change my oil every 5k and its usually right down on the minimum, or already had a small top up, by the time its needing changed again.

I will monitor it more closely, but topping up more between oil changes, and oil gets blacker than it used to.
still think I have a leak under the inlet manifold, maybe oil cooler to block, or breather system.

now 174k with a new timing chain tensioner, i can stop cringing now....

I have an audi a4 b5 Quattro estate 1.9 tdi 110 with a mire 297k soon 298K all original running gear exept the turbo went bang a few years ago just sailed through another mot

Just shy of 205 000 miles on my 98 model B5 Avant 1.9TDI with the AFN engine. And still mid 50's to the gallon. I love the old tatty ******.

Get the same out of mine still, looking a bit rough but runs mint I use it daily and do on average 1500 to 2000 miles a month never misses a beat

333,800 MILES on my 2000 V6 quattro 5 sp man. Original owner; purchased sight unseen while on boat over to States from Germany. Only replaced clutch once. Even repaired/replaced front end with silver A4 donor fenders and hood following unfortunate front end collision insurance total last February at 306k.

286,000 on original engine and gearbox.
Just an oil change each year.
A4 B5 tdi 110bhp

A4 B5 1997. 302,000 miles now. Just an oil change every year. Runs smooth, starts better than my 2012 A6.
