Right guys back in February I purchased an imola yellow s3. 80,000 miles, heated seats and parking sensors which was a bonus. Everytging was going great until I hit the following week. 5 faults appear. What great luck now.. Not. So rung the garage up and they happily took it back and repaired it.

Three days later car was fixed, or so I thought as after having it 3 more days that's when things got messy. Tutbo blown, driver rear wheel hub bent, traction control not working. So within 2 weeks all this has happened. By this time I was p*ssed off extremely as I have just bought a car which turned to a nightmare.

After asking them for my money back they refused. They then tried to blame me for all the problems - just what I wanted them to start acting like tw*ts. So I spoke to my father and we went down the route of taking them to court. Great.

4 months later, after having a mediation phone conference with them they then agree to fix it. This was back in June. So end of June the car went, from then until this week I have been waiting for a call to say it's ready... Wednesday hit and we received the call. And today I went and picked her up! So far she has been brilliant! No issues, so now it's my turn to show her some respect and get her back to a good standard following by some modifications.

I have chosen revo as badger is about 3, 4 hours away and revo is 5 minutes away.

I have booked the 17th and 18th of December to get a full service done, haldex service, cambelt, water pump, leak test etc so far coming in just over £1k. And then any additional pipe I might or should replace. Following this I am doing my stage 1 which I will have additional upgrades of forge 008 dv and badger v2.2 TIP with jetex filter which I will be ordering both Monday. Please let me know if I should do anything else.

I am on the look for better brakes, coilovers, xxr530 alloys, polybush kit

By end of this year or January I will have the addition of Christmas/ birthday/wage money into my bank and I shall go down the to get a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust (unsure on where at the minute) airtec intercooler de resonated boost pipe which goes down the side of engine (because I can) and stage 2 remap (I'm unsure on anything else I shoudl think about doing).

Tomorrow when it's bright amd hopefully sunny, I shall upload some pictures.

If anyone can share any suggestions or advise that will be great!

Bad start wih the car but glad it all got sorted. Sensible plans, only thing people are going to say is add a front mount, especially for stage2. Any photos of the car ?

Hi @tom2001s3 yeah I shall do pictures tomorrow once I've cleaned her again and polished :) tomorrow I'm also hoping to change the rear lights, new numberplate section/lights maybe try fit my LCR front splitter. I might do the airtec intercooler with my stage 1 depends if I overspend on Christmas presents. If not then will do it in January

The one picture I have from today was taken by my partner when I was fitting my sub cables

Right so I tried fitting smoked rear lights, didn't go well as it got dark quick and some bolts are a pain to get too. At this stage I thought I will change the whole assembly for the rear number plate lights, replaced look brilliant and new, only problem is neither of the number plate lights work. ive tried using different bulbs, still nothing, anyone got a suggestion on this?

I have just been in contact with awesomeGTi, I purchased the forge 008 Dv from them which should hopefully be here within the next few days. And have been in contact with badger5, and have now purchased the v2.2 TIP in black along with a filter (whatever one was suggested cant actually remember). so now I wait until these have been delivered, cant wait!

Just got my first modification, FMDV008, ordered it yesterday from awesomegti at lunch and delivered today! Can't wait to fit this later on tonight!

Looks like the Imola is going in the correct direction now, after a nightmare start! Good stuff!

double check your connections, this happened to mine when i put it back together, I went back and pulled them out and pushed them back on, tried again and then it work.

I hope so. Its about time she got some attention as I think she may have previously been neglected a little. Got my badger v2.2 on its way soon, and revo on 18th and 19th December.

Nice topic mate! Will folow your build. How do you fixed the door strip?

thanks @LennardS3, I will take a look through them on weekend, im tempted to just try and put a through screws and some sort of glue around to hold it in as next year im wanting to take the car to get re sprayed.

have just ordered the forge hard boots pipe, some pipe for an airfeed for my TIP when it arrives so cant wait for that to arrive then it will be stage 1 time along with full service, haldex service, cambelt, water pump, smoke test etc beforehand

So last night was doing some nice driving, not thrashing it, and all of a sudden engine management light comes on. F*ck sake??!! spoke with a friend and he was able to diagnose the problems one being faulty speed sensor, which is explaining why my speedo doesn't work... and another an issue with exhaust gas temp 1 if I remember... going to buy parts today and fit either tonight or tomorrow.

Also whilst driving back home, I then noticed my fuel gauge having what looked to be a fit. I did only have 1/4 tank, but the needle would start moving into the red, then back up and so on then it would eventually stick to what it should be then happens again. We tried to find a fault code for this but was unable too. Does anyone have any suggestions to what this could be?

I am hoping that these aren't expensive fixes. Just got the car back from the garage on Saturday, don't want to take it back because of how long that they took to do everything else.

So now car is in **** limp mode I'm presuming it's due to exhaust has temp 1 sensor or speed sensor. If I clear codes limp mode does go off but will eventually come back. Going to talk to revo and see if I can get them to have a look and fix the issue...

What codes you get mate?

on the obd reader it cane as 16885 and 17861, on being speed sensor, other exhaust gas temp 1 sensor

Yes both are sensor/electrical faults. If you have Vagcom you can check the measuring blocks of these sensors.

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16885/P0501/001281
6885/P0501/001281 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22): Implausible Signal
Possible Causes
  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22) faulty
  • Wiring/Connectors from Transmission Control Module (J217) to Engine Control Module faulty
  • Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22) faulty
  • Malfunctioning Left Front wheel speed sensor (in vehicles that don't use a physical G22 sensor)
Possible Solutions
  • Check Wiring/Connectors from/to Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22)
  • Check Wiring/Connectors from Transmission Control Module (J217) to Engine Control Module
  • Check Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22)
  • Check ABS Brakes for faults and diagnose malfunctioning Left Front wheel speed sensor if applicable

This sensor is located towards the back of the gearbox underneath where the gearchange cables are

The other one I can't find listed on Ross Tech's wiki but a google came up with..
17861- exhaust gas temp sensor 1 (g235) open or short to plus

Helps to have full descriptions for diagnosis :)

Anyhoo.... the speed sensor fault suggests the ECU doesn't trust what the sensor is saying... this could be a faulty sensor or wiring...

The EGT fault suggests the sensor is disconnected in some form... could be wiring but have seen this from a faulty sensor before... this sensor is located under the inlet manifold and removing the plastic trim in front of the inlet should reveal if the sensor is plugged in or not...

Thanks again tuffty. Anyone know a garage that can do this on Tuesday next week? I think revo might charge a bit to repair and buy the new parts

Preferably near West Sussex area if anyone knows a place

So after a week waiting this morning my car went to my local revo and is now having full service, haldex service, cambelt and water pump, smoke test front ARB, sorting of a slight oil leak and anything else they can see might need doing.. Along with my stage 1! They have been a great help so far keeping me updated on the situation. and all is looking okay at the minute :)

Not done yet, booked for 2 days. They have let me know they are making good progress and haven't come up with any real issues as of yet so looking to get back mid day tomorrow

right, just been on phone to revo, and been informed that cylinder 1 is very low compression, and they wont put the stage 1 on.. great! just what I need after everything that ive previously been through! they are leading to believe its he chamber being worn a fair amount, piston deteriorating (I think that's what he said). When they done the oil change they said the car struggled to come back to life, eventually it did, and now is working fine. I mean I am hearing a lot of problems with revo now so am going against the idea. im going to get a friend to compression test to double check results. a little p*ssed off. I am wanting to achieve the 400bhp mark so will need to rebuild the engine anyway.... going to read through some previous rebuilds to get an idea on costs and what will be needed for this as im unsure

Rotten luck mate. How did the smoke test go?

will post later as I had terrible signal working near to heathrow airport along with planes going over. picking the car up tonight anyway so will speak to them then
