Can the kerb view dipping function on the passenger side door mirror be retro fitted? I had this on my last car and it was really useful for avoiding any kerbing of the alloys but my new car is from stock and doesn't have this as a factory fitted option.

am i right in thinking this comes with the auto folding/heated mirrors? if so mine don't do it :-(

This is where your nearside mirror dips to show the kerb when you put the car in reverse?

If so i'm guessing i need to set mine myself as it's not been done from the factory.

Oh, and your mirror selector switch needs to be pointing at the passenger side for it to work

Brilliant. I'll get on to my mates at Autotechnica (best Audi mechanics in East Yorkshire) and sort it. Many thanks.

You'd have to ask your local dealer. Where abouts are you?

Not sure if their software can tweak like VCDS can.

I had it enabled on my 8V, but I find that it doesn't work 100%. Each time the mirror returns, it goes a little higher. After several times in reverse gear, the mirror is pointing up at the sky!

I've done this on my 8V. You need VCDS and it works on all models. Useful when reversing around the corner not to scratch those alloys.

So i'm pretty sure it can be activated (Believe @monopole has done it)

But the reason why you are finding it going back a little higher is because you have no memory function in the car. Aka Memory seats. It uses this system to store your preferred angle. I must admit I haven't seen many Audi models "forget" it's position. We do an awful lot of heated mirror retrofits and activate this on the car FOC and normally it's seamless...

Yup. VCDS will do it - I have done it on mine. No, it doesn't go back to the same position every time, so I use it sparingly.

What you're saying about memory seats makes sense, but I'd have thought that not too many people had memory seats on their 8V.
Perhaps those who have successfully carried out the mod with no issues could let me know if they've memory seats fitted?

I must say that if you do the mod and test it once, it looks fine as the mirror only moves back very slightly more than its original position. It takes probably 4 or 5 reverse operations before it is obvious that the mirror has moved up from its original position. It's still annoying though!

I thought it stored the seat position in the key for the electric seats? Either way, lack of push-button memory stopped me ordering them. They are useless to me without, just spending money on a slower way of moving the seat around...

I done it on mine with VCDS and it works fine. As said before though every now and again you need to adjust the mirror position. It's a good mod though.
