Iphone 6 Not Functioning Correctly When Connect To Mmi

It's odd in that Phil1824 has a new iPhone 6 Plus with IOS8 and he is OK. And on the Apple Forum many people had problems with IOS8 and Bluetooth in their car systems but reported that resetting network settings fixed it. I will watch the outcome with interest as I have held off from updating to IOS8 because there always seems to be initial problems and I've learned from bitter experience to hold off. The "if it ain't broke don't fix it" philosophy applies for me. I do hope that it is an easy fix and not an Audi MMI one as if so it could task some time.

Vimy,

Going back to your original post, have you tried limiting the Bluetooth connection to hands free phone only ie switching off Bluetooth audio?

John.
How would I switch off just the Bluetooth audio?

Iphone 5s with iOS 8 still works fine, but then I don't want messages or BT audio to work.

I tested with my iPhone 5s running iOS8 and I also get the same issue

How would I switch off just the Bluetooth audio?

I am not near my car just now but from memory:

Ignition on and phone connected to MMI via Bluetooth but not physically plugged in to AMI.

On MMI go to 'Telephone' and then devices (or settings). You will see your paired and connected phone.

Select your phone on the MMI and it should go to a screen that has a couple of drop down options to tell you whether phone is active for hands free calls, Bluetooth audio etc. Deactivate the Bluetooth audio one.

instructions should be in the manual too.

John.

Thanks I'll give it a go when I leave work

Just got my iphone 6 plus and appears to be ok i.e. works the same as the 5 s with the added bonus that the call list is as the call list on the phone, rather than just the calls which had occurred once the phone was connected to the car. The signal strength indicator is there.
I thought I had issues re no ringing tone but I think that was because it was connecting to the old 5 s which was still switched on. I had restored the six plus from a back up of the old one, so the name was the same which was confusing... I had to pair the new one with the MMI and made one call which connected ok and had the dial tone. Will check out the other things later.
I can confirm that all is working well, exactly the same as it did with the 5S

Nope even asking disconnecting music source it still doesn't work

Yeah same issue here with the iPhone 6. Just doesn't work with bluetooth, although media player works fine. There'll probably be an apple update within a week or so.

iPhone 6 with iOS 8 - Initially not working, no handsfree, the signal strength indication on the MMI was greyed out, but messages working.

Scratched head. Then solved it (for me anyway).

The problem is that if you do an iCloud Restore onto your new iPhone6 - some elements of the old Bluetooth profile and pairing get tangled up together. The cure is:

1. Rename your new iPhone
2. Delete all Bluetooth phone pairings from the Audi MMI
3. Reset All Settings
4. Reset Network Settings
5. Reset Network Settings again
6. Connect to WiFi on your phone (optional)
7. Do the pairing with the car again.

The 7 steps above made a useless iPhone 6 work with Bluetooth handsfree on the Audi MMI.
Signal Strength now shown solid in the MMI.

Interested if this works for anyone else struggling with iPhone 6, iOS8 and Audi MMI.

My iPhone 6 is working great with my S3.

Messages over Bluetooth has just started working for me since updating to iOS 8. Wish you could change the message tone though...

Has anyone tried updating to iOS 8.0.2? Can anyone confirm whether this fixes the bug?

Ok - I can confirm, this works for me.

I have the 2011 A4 Premium Plus with NAV. I was just as frustrated as all of you for the connections, and calls that immediately end after connections. The phone stayed connected to the call but the MMI shows called ended. It also displayed other anomaly. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth on both the car and the phone. What was worst - the MMI would start a phone call on its own stopping any music playing and showed "connecting...", but nothing was happening on the phone.

I'm glad that veeeight's post helped me. Thanks

Vimy- I can confirm that 8.0.2 alone did not help, but veeeight's suggestion did it.

So is much of this problem caused by people buying a new phone and giving it the same name as the previous one? Perhaps those without problems started off by selecting a different name for their new phone?

John.

Might be. But for me, I changed the name of each new phone I get. It might be the backup holding on to some data set from the other iphone I had.

Must be under certain conditions as my hands free is fine and I've tested it on 3 devices. iPhone 6 plus

You be quiet. You haven't got an 8V.

Yet. :p

Have you seen the list from just the USA?

Bluetooth issues have been reported on Mercedes Vito, Renault Clio, Ford Focus , different Ford models, 2014 Mazda 3, 2011 BMW 520D, Jeep, Kia, Volkswagen 2011 CC, Subaru Legacy 2014, Acura Tsx 2010, Subaru Outback, Dodge Charger, Cobalt (Chevrolet) 2012, Honda Civic 2014, Honda Pilot, Audi A1/A3/A6, Chevy Equinox, Toyota Pirus C, Mercedes-Benz, MINI Cooper, BMW, Lincoln MKX, 2012 Acura TSX, Chevy Cruze, Ford Explorer, Hyundai Elantra and Kia.

I've had similar problems with Iphone 6 and my S3 - Worked at first (8.0.2 seemed to be the start) and then dropped a call but was still connected on the phone - Then tried pairing back up and got this conference call come up on the MMI but phone would work ok by itself, but radio etc muted because of this conference call

I have a friend who is an Audi Master Tech and he couldn't crack it at this stage but confirmed had had a few phone calls about iphone 6's

I reset all settings (as suggested on the apple forums) which renamed the phone and now seems to be ok even when turning phone off at night but haven't synced back up to iTunes yet which others are reporting the problem comes back

Definitely seems to be something to do with the name from the old phone when restored as far as I can see

Wife's iphone 5 with 8.0.2 seems to be ok but not restored a backup onto a new phone so who can tell - Very Strange

Audi do only support 7.0.2 up to the 5S according to their compatibility list though

I have a solution! I fixed mine last night, if the reset network settings didn't work for you (which it didn't for me).. Then hold down the power button and the home button for 10 seconds until the phone resets and then try and sync the phone to bluetooth again. Mine worked first shot !

I will let you on to a secret, but don't tell anyone, Apple have always been hell bent on world domination and their operating systems totally susceptible to virus's

Hey :)

Since I have the iphone 6 it didn´t work with my Audi S3 (ios 8.0.0, 8.0.1 and 8.0.2)

Than I restart my iphone 5s (8.0.1) and it works perfect
Than I install 8.0.2 and it still work (i would wonder if not)

We are talking about bluetooth, it can´t be that complicated that such a modern phone don´t work with a modern car ... now i must use the 5s for calls, and the 6 for messages and mails ...great :)

I think all what we can do is wait and hope?!

Greetings from germany

Can anyone confirm that bluetooth is working correctly with the new iOS8.1 update?

Just tried it in my car and and can confirm it's working as normal again

(Only tested on my iPhone 6, will try on the work 5c later today)

for me too ... perfect
both work, Iphone 5s and 6
