Tuning an S4

Hi guys, if I was to go for an S4, 2005 model, what's the tuning like for these? Bhp etc?
Also what hardware would I need and how much to tune?

Depends what stage you are wanting to go for? Stage 1, 2? 2+?

Stage 1 generally doesnt require any additional hardware as it usually ends up within the perameters of what teh stock parts will handle. Stage 1 on a 4.2 V8 B7 S4 comes in at around 350-365 BHP with most reputable tuners like revo etc. They quote £400 for that.

That being said, Rick@unicorn has a very well tuned B5 S4 and will undoubtedly give some better figures as to what he can do for you as that man has some skills!! If I was going to tune an S4 id be going to him! worth hitting him up.
 
Considering it's 340bhp to start with stage 1 seems pointless on it then! I have stage 1 on the S3 atm but need to free up some cash atm
 
Well in a way yes, but you would notice the difference in 20 odd horse power in a car like that. but yeah you are right.
be better off slapping on a supercharger mate.

But speak to rick@unicorn, he might be able to raise that hes seriosuly clever with tuning.
Hes done my 2.0Tfsi and its mega quick compared to the stock 220bhp.

How much did he charge for the 2.0 ftsi as would like 2 get the DTM a bit quicker?
 
I paid £300 and it is rapid. I also opted not to go for the full tune on the turbo so it didnt blow up so theres still some tweaking available.

Not alot can be done with the V8 engine tbh. Remap, exhaust, piggie pipe and supercharger kit is about it tbh.

Remap will pop it up about 10-25hp but will sort out throttle control and smoothen power band to be a bit more eager low down. Exhaust frees things up as there are some serious exhaust blockages in the stock pipes (crimps, heavy exhaust packing, etc). Piggies will clean up the down pipes which releases a significiant (relative) amount of power. All done you should get nearing 400 or slightly over (engine health depending of course). Supercharger kit is a waste of time and money. Will give you about 450 for stupid money.

These engines dont have any space to play with them in the bay. The parts internally are not that strong so have minimal amount of ability to handle increased power.
 
If you want an S4 i'd be looking at b5 or b8 both easily tunable. B7 nice but as said supercharger the only way to go to get some proper power out of the V8. An it's not cheap. Your S3 with stage 2+ software will be faster than a b7 S4 standard or stage 1.

Plus 1 with Ash B the latest S4 with 3.0 v6 is very tuneable and big gains are to be had with just a good remap alone, plus the benefits of better mpg and lower insurance....on my Santa list anyways!

Check out the B5 section on here as well. As i know a lot of audisrs members are members on here. I'd keep an eye on audisrs classifieds, always see a few gems pop on there. Looking at getting a B5 S4 for myself when i put some cash away for one. Wanted one before my B7 but couldn't find a saloon that i wanted. The 2.7 twin turbo is a very tunable engine. Check some of the builds on audisrs. Stage 2 you get about 330-350 max depending on mods. If you do a ko4 conversion looking at some serious power. Depending on fuel pump, injectors, clutch/flywheel, mapping, hybrid ko4s etc etc. Anything from 380-500bhp :) I NEED ONE! Preferably in yellow, purple or blue lol
