Supercharged badges on the wings or not?

I've thought about this > actually bought a pair of "lookie likie" ones with red square and red writing quickly after getting car > thinking they might cheapen the car as non Audi > thought about buying a pair of proper Audi ones > thinking that with Deep Sea Blue Pearl might just stick with V6T > thinking ?????

As your car is silver, the V6T badges will get lost, maybe go for the proper Audi Supercharged in red?

Seen some pics, if you Google Audi supercharged pics there's some silver ones with the carbon, black and red, but think the red don't look that great to be honest...

For me the red square has a place on the S4 etc as it copies the S4 badging, though I can't see it working so well on a red car.

Lol, I've not driven a std one to be fair, but if I knew this is what you could have id be saving a secret fund ASAP to get it :)

I know, I know. I'm getting MRC to do the S Tronic, ATF & diff oil change first, just to be safe. Then a custom exhaust to make the sound a bit better, then stage 2. But it all takes time!

rum4mo - that's why I got it in carbon.

The deal on AudiSRS is a very, very good one. But I just don't have the £££ free at the moment. With exhausts, I was considering a X (cross) pipe as the Yanks seem to be into this and it gets a better, but not too loud, sound. But my friend is going on at me to get a full custom system from the place he got his at (name escapes me now), so will go and speak to them at some point. Only thing that worries me is drone as apparently it's easier to get drone on a S Tronic compared to manual.

It's a risk on DSG S4s I've read. Not a problem with Miltek etc as they've put the R&D in, hence the price, but if you go custom you run the risk. Not heard a Jetex exhaust on the S4, lots of MkIV Golf owners seem to rate them though.

Just had a google on the x pipe mod after your comments and it looks like a very tempting option. To me it sounds just like some of the other aftermarket exhausts from milltek and apr. Appreciate they will no doubt sound better overall and had a lot of r&d but I will be looking into the x pipe mod as can't quite afford the others. Might see if the magnaflow x pipe can be supplied in the uk.

I'd like try to keep you away from the "copy" badges, cheap, but cheap for a reason, I have a pair of them and I can't see them going anywhere soon, though they are red with red script.

Given the choice, I'd rather a badge that only said "SUPERCHARGED" - ie without the square RED/CARBON bit, the back ground colour and script colour would need to chosen to compliment the car's body colour yes I know back to "copy" types!

Finally, I think that I have the "ideal" car colour for an MRC badge (deep sea blue pearl), just not got the commitment to raise the power/torque curve, or at least its shape as the MRC one dumps the low down power and loads it up further up the rev band. That is what Ford used to give us with their Sport/GT variants, very good for use on flat roads, pain in the bum when trying to make real progress on uphill sections.

I'm not trying to justify why I'm not, at the moment changing anything, but drivability must suffer a bit, though if you drive your car firmly or pressing on a lot then going the MRC route must be the correct way to go. If there was a "lighter/smarter" upgrade, maybe only up 400PS that just lifted the current curves up slightly and improved economy when cruising as a bonus - though these cars are not about economy I know, trouble is, Audi seem to have set the S4 B8 6MT up to be a bit strange - a lot of drivability due to factory spec tuning, but low gearing to allow it to accelerate well within class, which after a while makes it seem that in standard form it was a opportunity missed WRT the opposition! None of that stops it being a cracking car in my mind, though the USA motoring pundits seem to follow my thoughts I've just discovered while looking for something completely different.

You can get it in the UK, from a place near Heathrow Airport - 10790 Tru-X Crossover I think they fit it too.

Just to chip in with my tuppence worth.
Supercharged side badges only, loose the supercharged on the rear, doesn't look right (IMO).
And I'd say carbon badges with a silver car, also matches your carbon trim.

I really want to change my exhaust, tempted to remove the fuse for the sound actuator to see what it really sounds like
Instead of the silly sound through the speakers! I would love the Akrapovic wireless system but they don't do one for the S4 V6...yet.
I guess the milltek is the tried and tested option, but I've heard reports of bad drone @ 2-3k and poor quality recently. That said,
the milltek valve sonic looks interesting but crazy money and the valve switch is hard wired. I had a Jetex back box on my scirocco GTi many moons ago, didn't realise they were still going.

Stage 1 will give you lower power numbers, however not sure what you mean by dumping low down power as it's got more through the whole range

Are you sure about that, I was going by the graph you(?) posted and it shows a drop in early, up to maybe 3500RPM in power and torque when compared by the flatter standard Audi map figures. That tends to be what happens when you retune it to be a bit livelier, ie max torque and max power at the top end of the rev range and a lot peakier than standard.

Maybe it would be good to see, if there is not one been done already, a comparison of a few available stage 1 and stage 2 maps as some will suit some people and some will suit others.

I'd be surprised if there was not available somewhere the ability to provide, with this engine, a bit more grunt low down AND a bit more grunt further up - like variable map selection - no that is not what I'm meaning as that exists already, more like HUGE map memory, though maybe that would cost too much. Remember maps are just three dimensional storage of parameters, so bigger memory should mean more map points.

Maybe I've laboured the "economy" bit too much, but in my experience over 30 years of driving mildly lively - when compared with basic models - cars, as the maximum engine power increases, the economy when not "on the go" tends to improve and this can be down to now having a better match of power to weight, and now with electronic engine management, bigger memory and so better efficiencies. Being able to "pull the rug" from under the feet of these jealous people that think that having a powerful engine means 10MPG at all times can be a bit of fun - maybe I'm mad!

Right back to wing badges!!

Maybe if I'm brave, I could go onto the MRC site and check out what they are claiming, my previous posting on this topic might be completely wrong if I've got the graphs you posted wrong, magnifying it did not have the desired effect - but then I might just need to go down to MRC!

I'm not sure I understand your point unless I'm reading the graphs wrong, or have missed a trick...
Dark green line peaking left to right is the std BHP line, red and black (together) are the mapped runs, which at all points on the graph are higher than the green one..thus it's higher power throughout the whole rev range. Same for the torque dotted lines which are the flatter curves

razza1, in one foul swoop you have totally trashed my logic/excuse for not visiting MRC.

Also, in my "favourites" I seem to have a shortcut labelled "S4 B8 remap experiences" - which seems to have been taken from this site, so maybe I have been looking into this for a while, and probably even before I bought my car. Now to go back to read that topic again, but I'll still hopefully drag my heels over actually doing anything!(sorry)

Lol :) maybe the original graph I posted was not as clear a picture then.
I was amazed to see 40mpg on the dis on the motorway doing 70 in comfort mode on cruise, (****** M25 and cop cars), but then crying when I got the chance to boot it (10 if I was lucky)
Used to have a 3.0 twin turbo supra and knew that was thirsty by the amount of times I was at the pump, but the mpg wasn't highlighted in your face as you drove lol :)
But the smile is worth it ;)

Ordered some carbon ones in the end... :)
Keef, what do you mean loose the one on the rear, theres nothing on it apart from the S4 badge?

Sorry mate, my bad - got my posts (even forums) mixed up. Totally different thread!

A little off topic, but slightly related, and looks as good as any place to ask... could anyone with the existing V6T wing badges give me the dimension between top edge of lettering to lower edge of swage line and also the rear edge of wing to outer most edge of the V (or T depending on side) - if that makes sense?
Would be greatly appreciated.
