Oil pressure light came on. Flashing red 15 miles outside Lyon. RAC took it to a local audi specialist. Garageroubi.com They used a valve pressure test thing on the oil pump. 0 pressure. They have said it needs a pump and that the need to get the Sump off to check for further damage... What can I do?

Am I at their mercy? How will I know if there is further damage? If the pump
Died but the car still drives(for now) does that mean nothing else has broken (yet) ? And I'll get away with just the pump? How much should a pump cost?

Thanks for your help.

BRE/BLB strikes again. Hope your pockets are deep, big big repair job. Search on here and google for it.

best case even over here is an 800 job to do, provided the turbo and head etc survived.

The pump is common to fail. The revised parts are IRO of 400 on their own

I'm pretty gutted. I can't sleep worrying about it. Sorry for the next guy but the car is getting sold as soon as I get back. I feel that way now I guess. What's all this about metal filings in the oil from bearings running dry? Is that how I will know?

Gutted for you man, let us know the full extent of the damage to your car and wallet when you finished...

didn't you have full recovery to get you home ?

I would get it dragged back to the uk and take if from there as above don't start it again.

The RAC are looking into recovery costs. Hopefully they will agree to repatriate it. There seem to be a bunch of garages on ebay offering reconditioned engines supplied and fitted for £1600+ anyone have any thoughts on these kind of deals?

Do they include the turbo?
