Looking at a 2009 S4, it has the MMI showing bluetooth, but apparently it doesn't have the microphone or the bluetooth link (so has Audi Bluetooth prep), does that sound right, apparently needs components retrofitting for £300??

When you say MMI shows BT, in what context, icon on the screen or a phone button on the unit, please expand, any pics?

Audi s4 9
only pic of MMI I have, think it might be MMI high as looks like a joystick on top of the control wheel

Yes probably can be enabled, then add a mic, only way to be sure is when its been bought, logon to check the systems abilities.

PM for prices mate, but its subject to checking the cars ability beforehand.

I don't get all this bluetooth prep :/ what do you mean it doesn't have a mic? Do they not all have a mic in them? I can talk on my phone on hands free in my car and access all numbers via the steering wheel what is that is that bluetooth prep or??? Lol please enlighten me as it's something that I've wondered for a while

razza good to see you over here from the B7 forum. You know the S4 makes sense. :)

It's seems you have the MMI High 3G system. To check if you have a microphone, press the speech button on the steering wheel, wait for the beep, then say "help". Listen if the lady gives you a list of possible commands, if she does, then you have a mic. Bluetooth will only need to be activated via VCDS.
Also if that is the multimedia unit you have that plays DVD's, you can also do VIM hack.
If your around London, gives me a shout and I can help you out.

Nah you're thinking of the guy who bought the X5. Goose? I only work in Reading.

OK, so you need to go into the hidden menu and switch BT on

Just popped into Audi today and they reckon it's hardwear needed as well as the car had no phone prep installed on the options pack. I showed him this thread and he was confused and will get back to be after speaking to the master tech.
Failing that, anyone near Reading that wants to try and switch this on? NHN, what's your cost without the mic please?

As usual Audi dealers have a severe case of ar$e & elbow... They really do know feck all about the cars they sell. The Bluetooth on MMi3G is now part of the 5F module (the Audi Multimedia unit in the dash) I retrofitted MMI3G into my A6 and just switched on the BT option using the hidden menu. http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a6-s6-...-bit-rebuild-repair-thread-2.html#post2182121

Look at the VCDS users map you may find someone local to you.

So it has all the directory etc in there, even asks you to activate Bluetooth, then doesn't find any phones and gives the second screen where everything is greyed out and can't be selected. Note the top option being Bluetooth on is set to off and greyed out. Any advice?
