Hey guys, everything seems to be going down the drain with this car, so heres a new problem.

The cruisecontroll seems to be working when it feels like it, i can be on the highway using the cruisecontrol, then i deactivate it if its a trafic jam or something, when i want to re-engage it.. nothing happens.

If i stop the engine and start to drive again, it works.

any ideas on whats the cause?
The car has been tested with vag-com numerous times lately and there is no error codes .

The car is a 2005 mod 140 bhp with quattro(if that matters)

You may have a faulty clutch switch, or brake switch which causes the cruise to disengage.

Seems reasonable, but if it's the break switch is bad, shouldnt the breaklight be on at all times then ?

will it show any error codes when u run diagnostics?

In reality yes, your brake light will be in all the time, however, it may just be intermittent. But yeah, I would be more inclined to think it is the clutch switch, this is very common on the A4 b6 and b7.

Also it won't find no faults with a scan as it will think the switches are just activated.

Ok, is this a part i can replace myself or do i have to take it to my local garage?

This is an a3 tough, do they use the same parts?

You can replace yourself.
Yes, I know you have an A3, but the same principal as an A4. Contact your dealer for the parts.
Bare in mind, it may not garauntee to fix your problem, but is first the best place to start.
Start with the clutch switch first.
