Hi guys some of you may know the situation I'm in, I have an a3 8p sportback and planning to fit porsche cayenne turbo alloys!

But after a trial fit on 1 side I discovered it's sitting far too high!
Iv been waiting long enough and now wanna get them fitted as going to waste sat in my garage!

Heres the car!

And the wheels!

Now the what's the current lowering kit favourite and is there anything else I'd be wanting to replace at the same time like top mounts etc...

Thanks

If lowering approx 5/10mm further than where it is now then eibach pro kit with some decent shocks

If wanting to lower further then eibach sportline with short shocks will go approx 20mm lower than s line

Not sure if if need more tbh judging by the potential arch gap!

U need at least the sportline but ideally coilover to go lower

What size are the wheels and what size are the tyres?

Yea I think my only option is coilies with that gap! Lol
They are 18's but with 215/35 so bit of stretch, tyres make these look silly compared to my ronals!

Coilovers are the only way to go on, will look awesome then on those! AP's are great for the money and still a great ride. Depending on the cars mileage I would change all four tops mounts.

Iv heard good things about AP's, cars done 69k now so will probs replace mounts etc for peace if mind! How long do coilovers tend to last as planning on keeping the car for a while? Lol

Have you done a search, there's been loads of threads recently about springs and coilovers. IMO, for wheels like that to look good, it needs to be low so springs are probably out of the question.

I had AP's on my A3 and found them brilliant for the money, but as I've stated in previous threads, I just wished they went that little bit lower.

I know but alot of the threads lead nowhere! Lol
Are you still running the Ap's and how long you had them on!
Don't want silly low limiting me from driving places with humps etc just wanna lose that gap! Lol

They're still on the car, however the car has no tax, MOT and has been in my garage for the last 3 months whilst I've been driving my GF's 206 haha.

Had them on for about a year and a half or so and no problems with them whatsoever. End of the day, it all comes down to how much you're wanting to spend. If you're not wanting to go silly low, want some comfort and want something under £500 then get AP's.

What's it doing off the road? Lol
Think I might be best off ordering a set then, I had joms on my old astra and they looked about 10 years old after 6 months!

Also will I be needing 50 or 55mm diameter for a 2.0 tdi s line?

The gap is so big because the tyres are too small - 35mm profile is fine if you're fitting 19 inch rims! but you're not, so you need 45 profile or your speedo will be out by quite a margin.

I bought them with tyres already on, last guy had these on a Clio but they were on an a3 at some point! Lol
Looks like I may need to sell the tyres and go for bigger profile first then! Lol

Right Iv bit the bullet and ordered a set of AP's, il fit them with wheels as they are for now and see how they look and feel!
As for top mounts do people replace just fronts?
Anybody got a link for a decent set?

Thanks

Still waiting for them to arrive! 😩
Do ap's require shorter drop links or are the standards on to reuse?
And I'm guessing il need bearings, and housings for front top mounts?

Used original drop links with mine just check the condition of them. Probably best to replace all top mounts while its all apart, well that's what I did for peace of mind.

Was thinking that, am I right in thinking the fronts consist of housing and bearing and rears are in one unit?

Used my original drop links and top mounts on mine with no problems.

I think they are both complete units, could be wrong! Dint fit mine myself so cant recall seeing them that much just in the box lol. All depends on the condition they may not need changing.....just as its a bigish job to get them off (mainly fronts) I changed mine.

they are both complete units, its only on the 8L you have a bearing and top mount setup. rears don't have bearings and nothing turns. and no you won't need shorter droplinks

So I'm just ringing up and asking for front and rear top mounts, is there anything else I need so don't have to take my original struts apart! (I want to keep them complete so can just do a direct strut assembly swap)
Is it purely my coilover assembly with top mount then bolt into car?

needs to come down a fair way
