Does anybody know where I can get a set of Windows made out of polycarbonate?

Prawns got prices on them, but if you google it you will find quite a few places who will make them.

May I ask why?

Track Car build. So saving weight and thought whilst we are stripping electrics out might as well get rid of electric window motors etc at same time. We have 5.5 kg of wire so far

ACW Motorsport plastics are probably your best bet for cheap lexan windows. I'm in talks with him at the moment about doing some A3 windows, so hopefully soon he'll have the templates and be able to offer them up for normal sale.

Awesome. That would be great. Thanks. Oh sent you a pm before btw prawn

More reason for them to make them. Three people already. Anyone else interested?

You going for front or just rear windows?

Full set ideally. Might as well do it properly if we can.

Hi there!

Little "up" for this thread.

I'm looking for exactly the same kit as you are looking for, and if you are able to make it produce at great price, I'm in.

Please let me know if AWC Motorsport does it or no.

If no, i've already contacted Plastic4performance and they are able to make it for 500£ fo 3 kits and 420£ for 5. All windows, moulded. With black "as genuine" borders. No windshield.

As it's a bit too expensive IMO, I would be glad to find the same quality but cheaper.

Please keep me tuned!

whats the weight saving on these

also is it ok to do all 5 or not?

I'm going to contact them as they are 2mm standard. But do 3 and 4mm too. Also I want little Windows on mine and not massively tinted. Il email them later and will let you know prices and specs

Pretty sure it's 3mm min for MSA and 4mm min for FIA requirements. Sides and rears only no windscreen obviously.

Personally, for anything being used on the road, I'd avoid doing door windows completely.

Good find! Am very interested in this as should hopefully be putting windows back in soon :)

I will only want the back 3 also...would have thought group buy should save quite substantially on postage from Greece?

If some one wants to enquire, rear 3 only in 3mm and a group buy is something I'd be very keen on getting involved with.

I have asked about tinting levels for those who might want tints, group buy discount as a few are interested. Also I would be getting fronts so asked if they would do little slidy Windows. And if they can be shaped like the original Windows because obviously they are flat not curved like the original.

wow, you've asked a lot

I'm sure thermo forming is possible. But it's going to put them right into the realms of P4P prices again, so back to square 1. Same with the rear screens. These greek ones are flat, so you fit by securing from the centre, take your time working outwards, probably using heat to help bend the shape.

If the windows are sealed into the frame, why do you need them to be formed? The channels top and sides will hold the shape.

I was just curious to see what they said. I'm wondering if I borrow someone's paint oven if I could then warm them up and shape them to the original just to make it easier.

From what I can make out on the email, if 5 or more kits we can get 15% discount. Tint for a full set is $160 more (the usual range of choices). They said fitting 4mm is much harder and heavier especially the rears. Oh and the shipping has to all go to one address which would be a pain if it came to my house for you guys.

I'm in but thinking about it shipping to one address may not be as beneficial as first thought. When trying to send any parcels with a dimension over 1m the price rockets up which is what the rear window would do to it?

Recently sent a tailgate and because was over a meter it cost just shy of £40

None the less I'd be up for the back 3 probably in 3mm with no tints if it looks beneficial going ahead with some sort of group buy :)

The thing is you can buy a full tint kit and do it yourself anyway for around £40 and would be much easier tinting before it goes on the car. they were not keen on putting sliders on my front Windows so gave up with that idea. I will make a spread sheet of what everyone is interested in and where approx they live and see what they come up with. Anyone speak fluent Greek?

i dont see why its any more difficult being delivered to you mr sheep??

they turn up at yours and you send them to us FOC

problem solved

Why didn't I think of that? I bought a set of gauge pods only cheap ones around £20 nothing massive. The delivery through snail mail was £11.
There is logic behind our tinted Windows. When it's parked up somewhere it's less tempting for people to steal stuff from it if they can't see what's in it.
As ours is silver so is the inside and you get horrific glare off it when the sun shines in so tint helped that a lot.
It made the audisport.net sticker look cooler.
Also to keep it slightly cooler.

so have you ordered yours nick
im very tempted just to get some and be done with it.
gaffer tape them in.
and forget about it.

any idea on the weight savings yet guys?

I'm in if the group buy is going ahead of not will proceed alone...hoping to have my car watertight in the next two weeks so last thing I want to do is fit the glass windows to remove them a couple of weeks later :)

They have emailed back saying the shipping is going to cost for each set, which I gathered but seemed like he was getting a bit confused by the end goal. Plus I wouldnt be paying vat on mine but you guys would have to so was getting very muddled. It's almost easier if I'm not in the group buy.

ill do these soon but not too fussed atm

are you getting them nick?

That's cool with me Nick and I know exactly what you mean about getting confused over the end goal

It took me 3 or 4 messages to get a price for the 3 rear windows in 3mm, it was coming up dearer than the 5 piece set and couldn't work out why, it turned out he was quoting for 3 boot windows, but all in all they have been very helpful considering the language barrier

Also have you managed to get any pictures of the little windows for the front windows out of them

Nope. I will probably just do it myself I think. You can buy kits to do it easily.

Not sure if any interest to anyone in this thread?

I have now found a supplier of thermoformed windows with black borders for a reasonable price.

I have set up a group buy with intents we need to source 5 or more kits to make the prices quoted, if we make substantially more i may be able to negotiate a higher discount level.
