Does anyone know what the 2 "rods" are coming out the casting? This is inside the oil pan and just curious as to what they are and do.

I think those are the balance shafts. Is this a 2.0T? There are a few kits to convert to the 1.8T oil pump, which deletes the balance shafts- loses the rotational mass and gives you added oil capacity.

It is the 2.0T. Sorry, forgot to add that. Has anyone ever converted it over? How hard would it be to do? Thanks!
