Recently removed the rear wheel arch screw due to rubbing after fitting spacers, seems to have sorted it.

Does anyone know of a replacement flush type screw and supplier?

Also seen some threads saying you can mod the wheel arch fixing so it doesn't rub but no info how, any ideas?

Just take it right out, doesn't affect anything, never had one in for a year when my a3 was lowered with no issues.

As above or in mine I didn't remove it but ground it down so the head is about half it's original size and the fixing remains

Sorry to jump on the thread - im on the opposite side. Lowered the car and removed the screw on each side (fitted 15mm spacers rear and AP coilovers) Coilies are not wound all the way down but the tyre is still scraping on something.

Could it be the bumper / arch? Are the spacers too big? It only seems to do it on the Drivers side though not the passenger side...!?

I was going to try this next, I know it's a little anal but I'd rather have something over nothing even if it doesn't matter that much.

I'm running 15s on the back and it still scrapes at speed over big bumps, catches wheel arch. Which side depends on where the bump is or maybe you springs aren't same height?

That's exactly what I thought...

The fixing remains intact, and you can grind down enough to stop most of the scrubbing

OK cool - im going to be resetting my spring / ride height this weekend anyway and lube-ing up my ARB bushes as since fitting the new whiteline one its creaking like f**k so I imagine its the bushes.... and no whiteline didn't supply any lube for the bushes when I bought the kit.

Some people do have issues with catching and scraping on the arch when they fit 15mm spacers on the rear. I had 12mm's on the rear with AP's wound all the way down and never had any issues so I would assume it'd be the spacers.

Take them off and drive your car for a week or so, see if the problem continues. If it doesn't, it'll be the spacers.

Also, if it's just doing it on the drivers side, make sure both sides are level. Get on a surface you know is flat and measure from a point on the arch to the floor.

I bought the 15 rear and 10 fronts for my A3 3.2 had no problems didn't even remove the screw. Put them on the S3 and rear rubs so screw removed and only a problem on big bumps / dips. Your probably right with the 12mm rear being the right size but 15s look good. Maybe a mod when I've got 60 quid or so.

You'll probably find you need stretched tyres to make 15mm spacers work, the top of the tyre needs to be a few mm inside the arch and you avoid all rubbing.

I have 12mm on rear and mines isn't low I still have a decent gap between arch and tyre but when I have people in the back I sometimes get slight rub will removing the arch screw maybe help?
