The old scroll sp51 us starting to smoke so it's time for a replacement, where's the best place for this as would prefer using someone people recomend and what am I looking at cost wise, don't really want to spend fortunes as will be selling in a year,

Or look at K04-064 setup (300hp+) or even the TFSI turbo from a A4 B7 as thats good for 280hp iirc

Exactly what I was going to ask are they direct fit and what the model number of the b7 this one

And basically same sort of thing for the A4 B7 turbo but shouldnt need outlet pipe and turbine flange tweeking.

Not a direct fit no. It can be made to work, just depends how much effort your prepared to put in.

beachbuggy does various direct fit turbochargers, i'd certainly recommend speaking to him :)

Might look at getting the ofiginsl k03 machined to suit a bigger core as trying to keep costs down

yeh thats what mine has.

Personally, i would say go with an S3 CHRA. I've gone bigger, having an RS6 turbine and 2280 (Focus ST) compressor, but the A4 k03 frame is a bit restrictive and i imagine that the S3 CHRA would make similar peak figures to mine but would have less lag.

Beach buggy also has a few variants on the theme with different names, so worth having a chat with him.

Not really worried about figures just need to replace as turbo is a bit worn and will be selling car in a year for newer diesel variant, shame as if I had the funds I'd had liked to do the injectors and 3" maff for a reliable 280bhp, but family needs come first

I built a K04-023 core and coldside into a K03 hotside (with help from a friendly machine shop). Made good initial figures on a basemap (246hp iirc), and it Definately had more to give. Thinking of doing the same with my temporary 1.8t passat.

That turbo is sat in my sitting room ready to be fitted ;-) What boost were you running for the 246bhp?

well i have sent 3 emails and rang and text and it seems beach buggy doesn't want my business. anyone else do them?

He hasnt replied to me or my friend for that matter either im all sorted now anyway so dont need a reply but my friends not lol

No point for what it will cost you for a 'genuine' K04 maybe look at the BEX turbo from the B6 A4, or persist with beach buggy ??

a k04-015 new is 680 uk

bb is 500

bex about the same as k04-015

if i can find any 2nd hand but they never come up, i have emailed a re manufacturer for price for bex turbo, but i am happy to spend money i just want it to be worthwhile.

i understand hybrid is the way but from what i can see they last 3 years tops whereas a oem will last longer and when i am done i can sell, so overal would cost less. the k04-015 seems good value.

246? When? You mean using airflow as a gauge yeah. No way the a4 hotside could flow much more it's poxy

BB has seen 280hp on an A4 K03 hotside and K300 hybrid internals.

K04-015 is a pointless turbo, get a proper hybrid or dont bother.

Assuming that you don't have any upgrades on the car and you need to buy turbo, manifold, FMIC, exhaust etc. What kind of difference money wise would be between convertion from k03 to a good hybrid and a gt turbo or any t3 based one?

Mark: The guy used one of those cheapy ebay tubular manifolds AFAIK. Obviously dont last worth a **** but flowed ok.

Slepy: starting with nothing, i'd imagine that the reality is the GT would cost the same or very close.

Unless your just going for a mild upgrade (say 250hp max) which can easily be achieved with stock configuration.
