Hi all

Thinking of getting the dpf removed on my 3.0tdi.

It's already been re-mapped via Superchips Bluefin with the dpf in place and is running close to 300hp.
What benefits would I get in getting it removed and would I have to get another remap generated from Superchips to compensate for its removal?

Thanks in advance.

DPF removal definitely requires a new map, as you need to disable the "check engine" warning that the removal will trigger, as well as tell the ECU to stop doing regeneration cycles (i.e. spewing fuel into the exhaust every several hundred miles to burn off the accumulated soot).

The benefits of removing it are that there is much less back-pressure after the turbo, so you get faster spool-up, better fuel efficiency, and moar powars!!1! (if you want it).

However, my understanding is that DPF removal is now an MOT failure (if the tester is wise to the fact you vehicle had one fitted as standard), so you may want to consider it very carefully before going ahead with it ;)

DPF removal will give you more power as it does cause quite a pressure drop so affecting performance. The car will do more mpg as it won't need to regenerate and the engine can breathe easier. If you have a replacement exhaust like a Milltek or a Supersprint and the DPF is hollowed out then you get a completley different exhaust note.
Don't physically remove the DPF just get somebody to open it up, gut it and refit. On the MOT now they look for a DPF, as long as they can see what appears to be a DPF it will pass.
