Lowering springs S3

Is that 40mm on top of the already lowered s-line suspension or from basic ??

It's from SE spec by the looks of it. I measured the floor to arch height of the car before lowering so will confirm once I've had a chance to measure the new height.

In hindsight, I should've gone for S3 40mm springs for more of a drop

Think it's the A3 had 40mm and the s3 has 20mm with out Mag Ride.

I think :)

So which springs offer the biggest drop out of the 3 makes? H&R, Eibach or KW?

So here are the measurements of floor to arch through the centre of the wheel:

S-Line suspension
Front - 655mm
Rear - 663mm

KW 40mm springs
Front - 645mm
Rear - 657mm

So it pretty much hasn't moved!!! I thought it had come down more than that but obviously not

I'll wait to see how others get on before deciding if I'll swap them out for something else.

Perhaps others with springs fitted could also take floor to arch measurements so we can compare the different kits?

Holy moly! Assuming you paid, for argument sake, £350 for supply and installation. £350/16mm = £ 21.88 per mm dropped.

That's extortionate for the results and you wanna swap them? Get a refund and pay further labour charges. Really?

It seems quoted drops are from SE suspension. KW coilovers for example quote 60mm drop, however the small print states for S3 it's only 30mm drop and they're the same product!

I'm desperate to see a saloon on H&R supersports (quoted drop is 1.8") - Golf 6 and A4 look awesome with supersports so I'm hoping the same stance is achieved for the saloon.

There was always an element of risk given that nobody had fitted them before. I'll let them settle for a while then have a think. Ultimately, it's not come down as much as I'd have liked so if it doesn't settle any more, I may well go for something else but only once I've seen proven results. Coilovers are getting more and more tempting though....

Just a reminder that we have the H&R kit in stock ready to go at £200 delivered or £300 fitted.

Proven drop:

Would you mind measuring the floor to arch height?

It does look a touch lower than mine but it's difficult to tell between different angles of pictures

GNJ, are you running spacers?

Yes we have 15mm front, 20mm rear TPI spacers and bolts. Available from us for £190 delivered for the full set. We will have them live on the site tomorrow.

Hi gnj

Do the H&R springs offer the greatest drop out of the 3 currently available for an S3 SB? H&R, Eibach and KW?

Thanks

By the sounds of it the KW kit isn't even dropping the car and the pics I have seen of the Eibachs aren't as low as ours is so yes I'd say they are mate :)

So, I wrote an email to H&R requesting pics of both the supersport springs (-45mm) and their coilovers.
They replied with this.

The white car is on coilovers (wound right down) and the silver is on the lower of the spring options.

No, they didn't say.
But Springs are circa £200 and coilovers circa £900

Yeah got the wheels sprayed couple months back to go full stealth. Have to say the springs have hardly compromised ride comfort, hope it does settle down a little more- hopefully 5mm, will post with more measurements start of next week

Any updates on this? Have they settled anymore? I've got a set to install, but looking at your pics, it really doesn't look like it's dropped at all to be honest.

You are running 18s though right? I think on 19s it would sit better.

I'm also looking for a Eibach spring for my A3 with sport suspension. Ideally i want 10-15mm drop.

I dont know where to source this though... anyone have any suggestion?

I got mine from Frank at Orange Tuning in Germany. Awesome to deal with.

Yeah. They're not listed on the site but talk to Frank. Drop him an email.

got my eibach installed. for those who are interested - waiting for the spring to settle in.
(few hours after the install).
In term of ride comfort... no different whatsoever to a stock sport s line suspension

Got the H&R's fitted today and have to say its like driving a different car, normal driving is firmer but not crashy while still maintaining comfort, it's when you start to push it into the corners it really has changed, just seems to pull you round the corner with ease and feels much more poised now.
For anyone who's interested the initial drop is Front -16mm, Rear -19, but I expect this will drop slightly as they settle in.
Anyway here are before and after shots

Nice colour :racer:

Did you get the wheel alignment done after the springs were fitted mate?

I fitted my H&Rs and have had alignment checked - it was fine still within tolerance.

You dont need to change move or un-bolt anything adjustable. Front struts only locate/ re-locate in a fixed position. Rear Struts dont need to come off!

Springs on their way. Appointment for fitment to be booked. Detail shortly after. Pics to follow. By beginning of August DV.

H&R off Graeme. Top guy. I'm just hoping that they'll do the trick with my 19's and 225's. Should do for the wedge I'm forkin out on this piece of metal at the moment. Everytime I spend on the car our honeymoon destination becomes that little bit further away from home bit more exotic and ****** loads more money lol

They'll do the trick alright mate, it'll look pretty sweet, looks like yours will be sitting pretty before mine as I'm STILL waiting for my wheels to arrive! God knows when they'll get here??

You'll not be disappointed with the H&R's tho!! And as for the honeymoon the further and more exotic the better mate!!

Bognor! You know how to treat a girl eh!!

You'll get a couple of free H&R decals with your springs mate.

low further back that up front? I do not like that or as seen nor understeer with these cars ...

@evolaco

My H&Rs measure ~20mm all round though the rear looks slightly higher than the front. Understeer is dramatically reduced with these springs!
