Managed to Do bonnet, roof, wings & front bumper will be finishing the rest today.

As I'm crap at cleaning cars and dirty red cars look a bit flat I've not had a red car since 1996. However when they're properly clean like that they look stunning. Works so well with the alu kit on the RS3. Amazing job chap. Any chance of some full on shots!?

Yes no problem just got to finish the rest of it today, I'll say one thing there is a hell of a lot of work with all the various processes.

Looks good & the clay revealed very little which is also good huh.

OT. Warren good to see you so active again mate :)

As a black car owner I could spend my entire life cleaning the car, so I do a big job every six months (clay / paint cleanser / polish / sealant) and then 2 bucket every 2 weeks. I hate it, all the effort for such limited gains. Summer is flies (and rain), winter is rain and mud. For me the time is better spent on holidays / mountain biking / seeing friends / listening to music on big home hi-fi / track days etc.... In fact I think I'd rather shut myself in a cupboard for an hour than clean a car as the investment can be incredibly short lived!! That said, for that few minutes before the dust settles it is incredibly satisfying to look at the results. Maybe I need a machine polisher.

It's a long slow job to do thoroughly, but well worth it in the end.

Look forward to the final photos ... bonnet looking great !

Finally all done, took a few more pics, before my arm dropped off ;)

Thanks

I used Tardis to clean all tar deposits off

Followed that with Meguiars Clay bar kit on every panel

Then machined with Meguiars ultra cut compound 105 followed by Meguiars ultra finishing polish 205

Finished off with Collinite wax

My only gripe is the Claying and machining of the bonnet has taken all the stone chip touch ups and whatever was masking them off, so I'm going to have to touch them back up and apply some decent specific colour sealant to improve the bonnet.

The rest of the bodywork came up superb.

Great result. Was this your first time machining a car? If so I am interested in what machine polisher you used?

Thanks, yes it was 1st time, I used a Kestral DA-6 power plus bought from Polished Bliss as a kit with pads and compounds

Only other items I bought were the Autosmart Tardis and the Clay bar set.

Im planning on the spring detail soon, minor machine polish required to remove some swirls / wash marring.

Great job mate!!!
